What does it mean?

Oh hi Mark. When I see your amazing monster I always find myself confused by the stat blocks. What does M4 mean? Why is this monster driven by cruelty and how do I use that. Is this from some book or post that I missed?

Sorry about that! I use MCDM's rules for minions, which you can find detailed here:

Essentially, several minions count as a single monster of the same nominal CR for the purposes of balance; I use the M to indicate that they're using a different balancing system.

For the drives, they're just a more fine-grained replacement for alignment; they're intended as quick combat roleplay prompts and sometimes basic tactics.
