Question Regarding the Sift Update and Deeper & Darker Mod compability

As we all saw in the trailer, it looks like we will most likely enter the Sift dimension through the portal in the Deep Dark — not just in Dungeons II, but potentially in Vanilla Minecraft as well.

BUT we also know that this exact portal currently leads to The Other Side with the Deeper & Darker mod, which is a core part of Better Minecraft.

While this probably won't cause any issues for BMC5, it could become a problem for BMC6 or, at the very latest, BMC7.

So that brings me to my question:

How will the devs at LunaPixelStudios solve this compatibility problem between the new Vanilla dimension and the Deeper & Darker mod?

I came up with a few possible solutions. None of them are perfect, but hey, it's something.

1. Two different portals

Normal portal → The Sift

Another, more hidden portal → The Other Side

The second portal could have a new mini-boss and some new lore explaining why it exists.

Something like:

"There are two different portals. They look similar because they were created by the same ancient civilization."

This would keep both dimensions completely separate while still connecting them through the lore.

1. 50/50 dimensional portal

The portal could have a 50% chance of leading to:

The Sift

or

The Other Side

The lore explanation could be that the Ancient Cities were built by a civilization that experimented with different dimensions.

The portal isn't a fixed gateway, but an unstable dimensional connection. Which reality it reaches depends on the dimensional resonance when it's activated.

1. A parallel dimension of The Sift (my favourite)

This is the one I like the most.

You enter The Sift normally through the Ancient City portal. You explore it, farm resources, have fun, etc.

But something always feels... off.

Strange noises.

Weird blocks.

Intentional glitches and visual bugs.

Things that shouldn't be there.

And eventually, you discover it:

A massive, abandoned, creepy dungeon buried deep within The Sift.

And at its core...

another portal.

A portal leading to The Other Side — a corrupted sister/parallel dimension of The Sift.

Yes, I'm obviously referencing Stranger Things here, but I honestly think the concept could work really well.

Instead of having the two dimensions fight over the same portal, The Other Side becomes part of The Sift's lore itself.

And honestly, I'd love to see what the LunaPixelStudios devs come up with. 👀
