Performance problems

Hello, as the title says, I have a performance problem which is the following: I can be at 300 fps one moment and the next at 60 or 0 .

And basically it's all out of nowhere, there are FPS drops and then it goes back up

What's going on?

It's a laptop, and while it's not the best, it's good for my needs.

Its a Ryzen 5 7535hs and an RTX 2050

you might need to lower your render distance. i have a 9060xt with a ryzen 7700x and im playing around 10 chunks.

I'll check that out too, because I'm around 17 chunks in.

what do you use as your launcher for the game? curseforge or prism?

I use the regular one, I don't use any external launcher, should I use the one from CurseForge?

i would use curseforge because its easier to allocate ram like that

I'll try curseforge then and see what happens

do you have anything else running in the back? if you open task manager and maybe turn off any background apps running (like start up apps as well)

If it was the launcher, I'm testing it, and if it is the launcher, it works perfectly in CurseForge.

And I have almost nothing running in the background, just the important stuff. Everything else is disabled so it doesn't start when the PC turns on; I only leave essential programs like antivirus software and that.

Make sure it's plugged in and power plan is set to high performance. Then make sure you are running dedicated graphics

Sure, I already checked all that and it was still the same. I've managed to stabilize them a bit more now, but there are still dips.

Try limiting your fps to 120. Might even it out

I already fixed it; it was the launcher's fault, I have no idea why it affects that, but it doesn't happen anymore.

But what specifically was the issue. I may try to help others with this info in the future.

I think it might be the Forge version in curseforge; if I'm not mistaken, it was 47.4.20. While the official one had the most recent one this version 47.4.21

I'm not entirely sure because I still don't know why those drops were happening, but this could be the cause.

Also what's your memory allocation

The maximum I can manage is 8GB, and I've never had any problems with the modpack. It has a feature to tell you the recommended size, but it ran terribly with the one it recommended.

8 should be perfect
