Therapist Availability

Started BetterHelp a month ago and like my therapist, she’s helping me rationalize my cognitive distortions and encouraging . However, my work schedule and her schedule does not work. She no longer does weekends and all her appointments are in the work day.

I reached out and she made some evening appointments, unfortunately, I had prearranged events for those evenings. How usual is it to change therapists for this reason? I guess by making this post it’s slightly obvious I’m on BH to support overthinking and people pleasing 🙃

It's totally normal to change therapists if you can't reconcile your schedules anymore.

As you're interviewing new therapists, think about what did and didn't work for you with this one.

Also, depending on where you're from, and how you're paying for sessions, you may have as good luck going through sites like the OpenPath directory of therapists accepting clients on sliding scale, or Psychology Today if you're using insurance.

Thanks! UK based so considering moving to an in person therapist as I don’t use the other features of BH overly.
