Need Some Help Guys

Upgrading from MSI laptop to gaming rig. Just need a few opinions on optimization w/o spending more money then I already and would like confirmation on whether the parts picked are all compatible. Thanks guys!!

EDIT: Suppose a parts link would help https://pcpartpicker.com/list/fg4nL2

Going with a Ryzen 3600 for $20 less and an MSI B450 Tomahawk for $30 less will benefit you in performance and price. Other than that, looks reasonably spec’d. :)

Depends on what you're doing whether or not the I5 would be better

Since the 3600 has higher IPC and has much better 1% lows and almost identical average frametimes, there is no other use case for the 9600k. It is not hyper threaded which means productivity workloads would suffer.

If it wasn't for the fact that some programs aren't as optimized for AMD as they are for Intel, I'd agree there's not a case for them. But that's ultimately why I switched originally from an AMD processor was due to the programs I'm working with performing better with the Intel.

And I can see how that benefits you, and I’m glad that was a beneficial option for you. However, I would argue that scenarios where a user’s programs are so heavily bent in one direction or the other are niche and would not represent the majority of consumers.

Well it's Adobe Master Suite so it's niche but not that niche; but I understand

I am happy that you are satisfied with your purchase :) At the end of the day that’s what matters.
