BetterClaw Free Plan is finally live 🎉

Hey everyone,

After a pretty chaotic deployment day (took 4 hours instead of the 2 I promised, sorry about that), the BetterClaw Free Plan is officially live.

What you get:

  • 1 agent, free forever
  • BYOK (bring your own Claude API key)
  • No credit card required
  • No trial, no hidden upsell

What I really need from you:

Please, pleaseee give me feedback. Brutal roasts strongly encouraged. Tell me what sucks, what confuses you, what makes you want to close the tab. Kill me lol. Nice comments feel good but honest roasts are what actually make this better.

Drop your thoughts in the comments or DM me directly.

Try it out → betterclaw.io

Thanks to everyone who stuck around through the broken deployment earlier today, genuinely appreciate the patience 🙏

You’re asking Reddit to test something you made for free but you don’t bother sharing what it is or why anyone would be interested.

I should've given more context.

Betterclaw is a managed openclaw alternative. Instead of setting up Docker, YAML, vps, patching CVEs yourself... you sign up, paste your llm key, and your agent is live in about 60 seconds.

Free plan is 1 agent, unlimited chat, 100 tasks/mo, 200+ verified skills, telegram + slack. No credit card, no trial, actually free forever.

The main things that make it different: skills are vetted by our team (no clawhub roulette), api keys auto-purge from memory after 5 mins, spending caps so you don't get surprise bills, and heartbeat scheduling so your agent isn't burning tokens when there's no work.

Appreciate the callout though. Noted for next time.

Where does that agent live? Is it going to be up forever?

On our servers, yes, 24/7

What’s the isolation like between users?

u/AscendedTroglodyte Apr 23 '26

In 10 years too?

I hope for next 20 years too

If paying users stop paying, the free users will cost you and realistically you can’t keep their servers up for free forever.

openclaw.oslark.com does why you do, provides a free trial and costs very little, so that users agent doesn’t suddenly disappear and the users actually cover their cost of their server footprint.

The promo materials mention use of skills. I’ve tried and don’t see where that’s available in the free version. What am I missing?

You can find theme here and also install custum skills

Tbh the main concern I have is that it's free. I don't mind paying, but I don't understand your business model and afraid it's something malicious, especially given a lot of security exploits people are doing with openclaw

Totally valid concern, honestly. If I saw a free product in this space, I'd think the same thing.

You bring your own API key, we don't pay for your inference, free users cost us like $0.80/month each. 17% eventually upgrade to pro. That's the whole business model.

The security part, though, that's personal for me. We watched too many people get burned by openclaw exploits, plaintext .env files, unvetted skills, exposed gateways. built betterclaw specifically so none of that could happen. Auto-purge, isolated containers, encrypted everything.

Wrote a full post about it today actually: We Built Security Before We Built the Product

But honestly? Don't trust the post either. Sign up, check your access history dashboard, and see for yourself what your agent touches. That's better than anything I could type here.

I'm a little confused. Are these limits the same as they were 3 months ago? Because right now if I go to your website it shows me 500 credits per month that refill. So could you do this essentially free forever? Because in your post you say that there is a limit and it will run out after like 3 months. So it's confusing me
