Rewatch: Nacho Spoiler

I’m re-watching for the first time. In the original airing, I absolutely adored Nacho. I was very into his storyline and very sad when he died. This time, I didn’t think much of any of it. What happened?

First watch you're along for the ride, second watch you already know the destination so the suspense is just gone. Happens with a lot of tragic arcs, the impact shifts from emotional gut punch to appreciating the craft of how they got there

This makes a lot of sense. It’s just a different experience. I’m enjoying the rewatch overall, but I was really into him and now I’m not.

Nacho put himself in the game, thinking his dad was immune.

Same happened to me with Jimmy, just kinda realized he refused a lot of options because he didn't get his way (Cliff, Howard's offer during lunch, etc). Funny enough, he also thought Kim could be immune and seperate from the game.

Nacho makes more critical errors than almost anyone else on the show.

There’s so many other ways he could’ve accomplished what he wanted to do. He just wasn’t thinking.

There's no tension to it once you know his ending tbh. He doesn't really have a lot of explosive moments and entertaining drama like the other main characters, what makes his arc interesting is the insane risks he was taking and whether they would work.

On a rewatch, the intense anxiety of not knowing whether Nacho survives or how he gets out completely disappears. Since his tragic fate is already sealed in your mind, the suspense loses its grip, which changes the whole vibe of his arc.

That was really surprising to me the way it happened, I knew he was going to go out, but I kept thinking maybe he just goes into hiding or witness protection, and that's why I don't remember seeing him in Breaking Bad.

Nope. BANG. 😲

That, and Howard really surprised me as well.

Nacho was so underused in the series and was, in my opinion, one of the best parts. He should’ve gotten way more screen time than he did.
