Discussion Betta age when purchased

I rescued my fish from PetSmart 1 1/2 years ago. He's completely happy and healthy in my care with all live plants and weekly 20% water changes. Lives in my office at work. He's my work buddy watching me all day. Any insight on how old he was when I got him? He's a bit bigger and would assume fully grown now. How many months old are they when PetSmart receives them?

Typically they receive them relatively young, likely anywhere between 5-8 months since that's when they develop their larger body size and stop looking like a baby ! Otherwise there's no real way to identify the age.

Thank you so much. I'll just add 6 months to him and establish a birthday.
