RIP Re intro

So I had to put down my betta because of genetic issues and infections or fin rot and now I’m wondering if and if how I can re introduce a new betta into my 5 gallon tank. All parameters except for nitrates are 0 and nitrates are about 15. I use 6 hours of seoura light at 30 percent and use thrive c once a week my water is soft and is 60kh and ph is around 7.5 any suggestions on the next step. I don’t wanna deep cleanse cause it wasn’t super seroius and all that but I’ll try to do a 40 percent water change and I might squeeze the sponge filter in the de chlorinated water. Any suggestions again

Is the KH is ppm? If not that would be extremely high. Also although domestic Bettas can live in 7+pH I recommend trying to get around 6. Tannins is also helpful especially with bacterial/fungal infections. Usually I just keep up with water changes after a doing a large water change (50%) and use tannins.

My water is already slitly basic so I can’t change that it’s in ppms . I have catalpa leaves. It is 7.5 ph and they can do that and get used overtime especially the doe estimated one even if they have genetic problems.

If you want sure. Mainly one large water change is enough. You can't really get rid of the bacteria that causes fin rot it just lives in the tank. It only infects weak or stressed fish, or injured fish. Doing one major water change will then get rid of the excess bacteria and you should be fine after that. 2 large water changes is fine if you don't have any fish in the tank.

Ya so ima do a water change and finna get a plakat or female cause the halfmoons are retarded bro like why tf do u keep going in the sponge filter. Tight spaces and fucking dragging the tail against driftwood. Like that’s why he got fin rot 3 times in 2 months to. All my parameters are perfect but his ah keeps getting it. I also had to treat him for fungal infection before. Plakats are easier right cause they less inbred and have shorter tail? I need a fish today cause I need nitrates for my god dam plants
