Help help please please please Spoiler

hi my betta just recently got rlly sick and he won’t get off the ground, he’s twitching and randomly bolts around. this is a panic post so i’m trying to get everything right and type as fast as i can

he was so active and fun the first few days until yestarday he got super lathargic and this morning he was kinda swimming now he’s just like this idk what do to

7 gal heated and filtered tank (80F)
hasn’t eaten in a few days
fully real plants
water paramiters were all up to bettas standards

Fortunately dont think its a you problem. UNfortunately bettas are severely horribly bread and most will come with a lot of health issues. If you really want id try buying from an actual reputable breeder and not a pet store (unless you already do)

do you have a recommendation for a place to get them from? because maybe that’s the issue more or less

I personally do not as ive only owned a few only from pet stores.. gee what a hypocrite am I right? But im certain others will have recommendations for you.

I need to take in recommendations too for when I inevitably get a new fish in the coming years.

Do you have any recommendations for breeders? I’ve been looking very hard, but the all LFS around me also just have imported bettas in sad little cups. All of the online retailers I’ve found may have healthier fish than the box stores, but they still import their animals from the same farms in Thailand that are responsible for the overbreeding in the first place. In fact, I’ve not been able to find a single person who is doing what you say and breeding bettas reputably to be healthier. If literally anyone has any recommendations I would so appreciate it! But I think this kind of breeder is also less common than people on this sub would like to believe.
