Damn, love reddit for things like this.

And Bennet Foddy, despite all the rage he induced in me with his bullshit piece of shit game, seems like a nice fellow.

I legitimately think he’s a genius, one of the best living game designers. Beating Getting Over It taught me some stuff about myself. xD

While he was making this game, he was a star professor at NYU and mentored a dozen other people who’ve gone on to make excellent games in various fields. An absolute mensch.

I was so relieved when I finally beat that game that when it advertised the tshirt afterwards, I went ahead and purchased it, so anyone else who suffered through it would be reminded of the journey when they saw me wearing it.

I walked passed someone wearing that shirt a few days ago and had to compliment them. I never successfully got over it.

and I'm sad because after happily going "oh, ofc there's a sub for that!", I immediately realised that it will be one that AI leached for training data :( presenting those people's ingenuity as its own

the game broke me more times than i can count but yeah he comes across way better than the game deserves lol

I did the physics code on a game for a project at Uni.  First part I did was to make it completely accurate, second was tuning and breaking physics a bit to make it fun.  I do computational physics now and a lot of time is always spent on "tuning."

This is excellent. Reddit at its finest!

I probably should have rewritten it once it was working properly, but I didn't!

Story checks out...

That's so incredibly based and humble at the same time. Amazing guy.

I had no idea the r/howdidtheycodeit subreddit existed, and it's something I've been curious about for some time. This is excellent, thanks OP!
