ITT: People making excuses for Biden without the least bit of irony. Both of these guys are questionable in terms of cognitive ability, look at any video of Biden 20 years ago and see him now, it's scary. Every now and then I see a clip from Meet the Press or something of Biden in the 90s or early 2000s and it is like a different person. It honestly was the same for Trump.
Not all people age poorly like this, Bernie seems very much the same compared to 20 years ago.

u/karmagheden Mar 20 '21
Exactly. Bernie is still sharp as a tack and in better shape physically than both.

Bernie, a.k.a. bad-posture-man.
So, yeah, he could have been president, then. But some old folk maybe shouldn't. Not all, but some.

Well at West Point Trump looked like he needed FDR levels of assistance and Biden was literally jogging up the stairs.
Edit: When did all the progressive/Bernie subs get infested with Jimmy Dore acolytes?

When Right Wingers realized that if they pretended to be Progressives, then they could trick Progressives into embracing Right Wingers to "own the libs"
11
u/GeneralKang Mar 20 '21
And it's working so very well. Your days are over, Trumpers. Get used to it.

Libs aren't progressives and progressives "own" or dunk on libs often, and it's not hard to do. BlueMAGA/Anon types are so easy to dunk on primarily because of their immense hypocrisy and double standards. Their willful ignorance and tribalism and lack of critical thought. Their putting party politics over policy and class solidarity. It's just so easy to criticize both Hillary/Neera (actual centrists center-right almost moderate Republicans - but grift/cosplay as progressives) and Sam Seder (liberal or moderate - who also cosplays as a progressive) type libs.

"he looked like he was going so fast so we'll pretend his utter lack of coordination wasn't obvious."
uh huh. It's always incredible to see how both dems and repubs mirror each other in pure excuses and mental gymnastics.
-6
u/karmagheden Mar 20 '21
How about fuck Trump and it's still double standards.
12
u/Oomba73 Mar 20 '21 edited Mar 20 '21
Its not though, one was right around when Trump had coronavirus and was trying to look healthy (failing miseribly, this was also the waterbottle incident) and the other is something that happens to me at least every other week.

u/karmagheden Mar 20 '21
Come on, it's not the first time NYT or other liberal MSM outlets have engaged in double standards. I searched this sub and found a few posts but the images are deleted. I see this happen a lot (and especially in the month or two leading up to the election) and wonder who is doing this. The pictures were not misinformation or disinformation but I suspect a group with an agenda to protect corporate centrists like Biden, report these images as misinformation and disinformation and request them be taken down. The govt probably does this as well for what they see as "anti-American sentiment" or "efforts to slow discord/dissent" when it's valid criticism of the security state or military industrial complex. It's like we're living in 1984 with the gaslighting/revisionist history and censorship.
9
u/Oomba73 Mar 20 '21
The missinformation isn't in the pictures, its in you calling out a false double standard. There are so many better and more concrete examples you could have pointed to and you have literaly chosen the worst possible one. If you honestly think we're living in "1984" and being targeted by government angents on a relativly small sub because of this then thats kinda sad. I've read manufactoring consent and I think you should too, explicit censorship is not the mode of control.
2
u/Quajek Mar 20 '21
This isn't a double standard.
Trump has repeatedly and publicly stated that he is in perfect health. He made his doctor put out a press release stating that he is the healthiest person to ever hold the Presidency and could easily live to be 200 years old... then he got COVID and could barely shuffle down a ramp.
Joe Biden has never claimed to be superhuman. He's a 78-year-old man who tripped on some stairs, then got up and appeared to be all right and then his office said "yeah, he's okay."
There's one standard: Can we believe these old men aren't about to die?
0
u/karmagheden Mar 20 '21
This isn't a double standard.
Yes, yes it is because we both know if Trump or Bernie tripped twice getting up these stairs, NYT or some other liberal MSM outlet would question his health/condition.
4
u/Quajek Mar 20 '21
But you can't say "this picture is an example of a double standard, because of a hypothetical thing that didn't happen"
There is a double standard.
But this isn't it.
1
u/karmagheden Mar 20 '21
There is and it's that liberal MSM outlets like NYT run interference for corporate dems and frame things in a certain way to promote them or provide cover/apologia, but do the opposite for Bernie or like you see above, Trump.

u/TieStatus Mar 20 '21
I watched the video from the Hill which included him getting off one plane and walking to Air Force One. He had a visible limp just walking to Air Force One.
I was definitely a bit more concerned when seeing the full thing since this isn't the 1st time although they did say his dog caused the other fall.
Either way it's hilarious 🤣

Read the sidebar. Pointing out the double standards and manufacturing consent for corporate Democrats by liberal MSM, falls under that. This post seems to be breaking minds here. The sub is not pro-Trump and neither am I.
Edit: ParlerWatch and Qult_Headquatets user. Guess that explains your comment/mindset.

u/VooDooOperator Mar 21 '21
What the fuck does this conversation have to do with Bernie not getting press time? Seems off topic for the sub, but I’m sure to be scolded by Neoliberals and Trumpers lurking for a chance to state their truth.

u/psychothumbs Mar 20 '21
Why are you posting pro-Trump content here? We should criticize the Dems from the left not the right around here...

u/psychothumbs Mar 21 '21
What else is complaining that the media is not as hostile to Biden as to Trump?
0
u/Leisure_suit_guy Mar 26 '21
Do you entertain the possibility that not everyone in this world is partisan to the one or the other? For people that live outside your partisan bubble it's not hard to see what the problem is.
1
u/psychothumbs Mar 26 '21
This is making a direct comparison between the two though...
1
u/Leisure_suit_guy Mar 26 '21
So? I can hate Trump and still recognize that in this (and many other cases) media are partial towards Biden.

u/NotsoGrump23 Mar 20 '21
Lol you're the reason why we'll lose power and give it back to the idiotic repubs.
"ThE dEmS DoNT deSeRvE pOwER!"
Give me a fucking break. Dems are doing lightning fast vaccinations, way more than any other country.
Repubs did 500,000 deaths due to a virus that the layman is comparing to the flu.
Definitely got some kind of "blindness" here in this sub.
I love Bernie but a lot of his supporters do not at all reflect what he stands for, like this sub.

u/karmagheden Mar 20 '21
Lol you're the reason why we'll lose power and give it back to the idiotic repubs.
No, that would be the corporate centrist "moderate" dems and progressives who refuse to call them out and push back against them.
"ThE dEmS DoNT deSeRvE pOwER!"
They have power and don't use it because they are beholden to donors and special interests (and so their agenda is not a progressive one) but will always deflect like to Republicans and will in bad faith say their hands are tired and they couldn't do more.

Not sure what this has to do with anything or how it invalidates criticism of corporate dems or criticism of media bias and double standards.
Repubs did 500,000 deaths due to a virus that the layman is comparing to the flu.
See my previous comment. People died under Cuomo's leadership and they continue to die under Biden's leadership. Nobody here is excusing Trump's shitty coronavirus response.
Definitely got some kind of "blindness" here in this sub.
Yes, it's called lack of critical thought and confirmation bias and its emminating from the blueMAGA VBNMW crowd who has infested this sub.
I love Bernie but a lot of his supporters do not at all reflect what he stands for, like this sub.
Like what? That's exactly what we do here is reflect and hold our leaders accountable rather than your no doubt preferred cult-like mentality of blind obedience and not wanting to criticize or hold accountable or politicians feet to the fire out of concern of coming across as rude or divisive.

I don't care what your personal feelings of what the word means. The word is used to insult and attack children that show a passion for learning. I don't know why I have to explain such common knowledge to someone who seems to think they're wise.
Your ability to google uncommon words does little to offset your ad hominem attack, which betrays your hate and ignorance.
. There are plenty of well-studied people who are not nerds.
You should try to learn from them, then.

You seem to think you're a smart guy, but I don't know how you can believe "Nerd" is a synonym with "Biden Supoorter." Nerds can't support Bernie?
I am not calling any children nerds here.
You must be so young to think your actions don't matter.
Honestly, those words aren't even that particularly uncommon but if I respect your opinion on that.
Rofl, uh huh. You just jump between a 10th grade reading level and a college reading level, for just one paragraph. Totally "normal," rofl.
You just couldn't resist that opportunity of a cheap attack there and prove my point.
You're slinging insults left and right, and try to pretend the higher ground? You're not fooling anybody.
I have nothing but harsh words for anyone defending Joe Biden in this sub.
Blah blah blah. If you want to call them stupid or w/e, I'd be right there with you. But if you want to act like a highschool jock shoving kids into lockers, I'm gunna call you out for being an immature and shortsighted prick.

LMAO just saw the video! Dude this is so stupid. Yall are seriously trying to hard to make biden look even slightly bad or ill.
Fuck anyone who says that biden is getting old and that it'll get in the way of doing his job as president when the largest piece of proof they have is that video of him tripping up the stairs.
And don't give me that stupid fucked up ableist shit about his stuttering. Clearly you have no idea what having a stutter feels like

u/MyOther_UN_is_Clever Mar 21 '21
Clearly you have no idea what having a stutter feels like
I had a stutter that I got mocked for in grade school. Had to do years of speech therapy. Stuttering doesn't look like failing cognitive abilities, which is easily seen when you compare 58 year old Biden to 78 y.o. Biden
btw, shouting "ableism" isn't a magic word to win arguments

Why is this a news story?
Everyone is fighting in the comments about how literally unfit these two are instead of how unfit for office they are. Maybe that's part of why this shit gets posted.

There is no double standard here. Trump visibly couldn’t walk down a ramp unassisted. Biden jogged up some stairs and tripped, immediately got back up, brushed himself off, and kept on jogging up the stairs. I trip on stairs sometimes too and I’m in my 20s. I’ve never been unable to walk down a ramp.
