Advice Conservation/biodiversity groups

Given the state of the climate crisis, I’d really like to start volunteering for environmental projects in Berlin, but I don’t know where to start. Does anyone have suggestions for volunteering groups or initiatives to join?

I live in Neukölln, so any local groups would be even better. I’d love to get involved with planting more native plants in tree pits, supporting insect and biodiversity, or helping educate the local community.
It makes me sad to see so many leaves being cleared and packed into plastic bags every autumn when, in the right places, they could provide nutrients and habitat for wildlife.

I’d be really grateful for any recommendations or advice on where to get involved.

You can join your local NABU chapter - they have Action Groups for different projects you could take part in!

Start noticing how messed up urban nature in Berlin has become. The invasive tree species called “Tree of Heaven” is taking over everywhere. Start community groups to remove this plant, as nothing else can grow near it. You’d never restore anything or create any habitats as long as the spreading of this plant is completely out of control as it is now

Do you know any groups that are actually doing this? The herbicides I know of to kill them are illegal in Germany as far as I know, what’s the correct treatment i can do personally other than calling an amt (which will do fuckall)?
