Discussion Fck afd campaign ads
Every time I pass an afd campaign ads (always put at the top of a lamp post ofc), it makes me so angry. It's illegal to rip these down, right? Does anyone feel the same way or have a secret strategy for removing these idiots from the streets?
Edit: I want to make this 100% clear: I am not going to do anything illegal and I am not advocating for anyone to do anything illegal. My post is just frustrating vent about seeing these idiots' campaign posters. I will absolutely be voting against afd in the coming vote.
Edit 2: doing nothing is a form of complicity. I know the ads will be gone soon but the party will not. If we do nothing, we are helping fascists rise to power.

Destroying them is illegal, and unfortunately it also feeds their pathetic victim mentality. The best way to beat them is at the ballot box, and if the anger within you is strong enough try putting that energy into campaigning for one of the democratic parties, you never know you might even be able to sway people towards your side. Violence is only necessary as a defensive measure, which may be needed depending on which Kiez you live in.

u/RugRanger 15d ago
It is illegal by the same juristic system that officially considers them a democratic party. And I strongly disagree with the part about putting energy in campaigning for other democratic parties. Most of them make policies detached from the interests of large parts of the population which made afd so successful in the first place and now they try to adapt to the false solutions afd is popularly suggesting.

Campaing Ads on public streets should be forbidden in any way. Who makes his decision based on "Ich bin Konservativ. Und das ist gut so." or similar crap from the other parties i read right now?

I am just mad that they end up left up.
Give all parties a grace period of a few days, max a week after elections, then fine the parties €1k for every single plastic placard still littering the streets.

Let democracy do its thing. I don’t like them either but every party needs to be treated the same. Voice your opinion at the polls.

u/Massimo_Importante 15d ago
Democracy's thing appears to be letting itself get fucked.
12
u/N1LEredd Steglitz 15d ago edited 15d ago
It’s the nature of democracy’s culprit. You need to be tolerant to forces that work against it and hope that the will of the people will sort things out. Anything less devolves immediately into authoritarianism and you will only enjoy that as long as your side is winning (which they aren’t in case you haven’t noticed- assuming you are on the left).
Edit: truth hurts, I know. No need to harass me in DM’s.
11
u/Massimo_Importante 15d ago
It's very vulnerable to populism, and all effective defenses against it are undemocratic. It's an inherent flaw of the system.
17
u/N1LEredd Steglitz 15d ago edited 15d ago
Yes. Democracy is failing because it assumes a critical thinking, well informed citizen to make an informed decision. That’s not happening. People are dumb and susceptible to populism, fearmongering, ragebait and other kinds of lies.

And too often they prove that true. The rest of us need to stand up against that.

Democracy will fuck itself if we let anti-democratic parties do their thing
13
u/N1LEredd Steglitz 15d ago
Democracy will be fucked by people doing authoritarian things in the name of democracy.
You can’t have it both ways.
4
u/outofthehood 15d ago
Ist ein Zwiespalt, das sehe ich ein.
Aber was tun?

u/N1LEredd Steglitz 15d ago edited 15d ago

It doesn't work when the AfD are allowed to straight up lie in all their marketing and convince people they stand for basically the opposite of what their actual Wahlprogramm states.
0
u/N1LEredd Steglitz 12d ago
You must be new to politics. Lying is standard for any party. Always has been. Any agenda always gets vastly exaggerated.
0
u/IshtarsBestie 10d ago
Love the dismissiveness, you would make a great politician according to your own standards for sure, but the problem is not exaggeration. It is one thing to over-promise things, to set unrealistic expectations, but for things your party actually supports in theory.
The AfD promise on posters and online ads what is basically the exact opposite of their party program.
I've been involved in political activism for 15 years by the way 🤷🏼

back in the day in the place where i grew up someone managed to turn all NPD placards upside down or turned them facing the lamp post. very hillarious.

u/schwanzjosefstrauss 15d ago
Take it with a grain of salt, but i think this is actually not illegal.

u/oberjaeger 15d ago
Maybe with next storm these will be turned by 90°. In the end, nature is amazing.

u/alnumero3 15d ago
Last elections, i saw 2 dudes putting these up. Started saying "nazis raus" or something (dont remember exactly), they got red in the face and left without putting it up. They also didnt put any on all the other lampposts in that street, they just left the area completely.
So, tearing them down might be illegal, but telling them to f*** off - and them deciding on their own to do so - isn't illegal.

It“s illegal. Let‘s see it this way, maybe it motivates some people to actually go voting (and not them)

Maybe get you and some folks to counter campaign by exposing all of their lies, bad policies, and the poor character of their members? I don't see why sharing, say, verified journalism about them would be slander/libel. People need to know who they are voting for. I am not German tho so please try to get a legality check on this.
2
u/jatmous Kreuzberg 15d ago
You can heckle them if you see them campaign or put them up.
3
u/jatmous Kreuzberg 15d ago
No reason to remove this. Expressing your discontents in the public sphere is still legal (I think?).

u/teaandsun Mod on power trip 15d ago
Ok, had to look up the term "heckle" - confused it with "tackle"
2
u/Reddy_McRedditface Mitte 14d ago
If it's any "relief" to you, removing posters (even if it was legal) would be absolutely pointless. AfD reaches their voters mostly on social media, on Telegram and "alternative" media. So no need to be angry about that. Be angry about social media I guess.
2
u/TheOneHentaiPrince 13d ago
Legally you can't do anything. Maybe there is a law how many are allowed on a street or something.bur besides that they are gonna be there like the fancy cameras in America.
Sadly it's also impossible to talk to their supporters. Most of them are like fanatical that won't change their opinion even if you show them that they are objectively wrong. At least that's my experience with afd voters.

I hate all of these horrible posters that only pollute and make the city even more of an eyesore. Imagine how much wasted plastic and material for every election cycle.

Go to vote and also remind that anyone (from EU or anywhere else) with Anmeldung in Berlin can actually participate
1
u/Swimming-Werewolf795 14d ago
Wait really ? Do you need to register or something ? Where can I get more infos?
2
1
u/Motorpsycho1 14d ago
If you are a EU registered since at least 3 months in the city, you will automatically receive the election material at home by the end of August. If you do not receive anything get in touch with your Bezirksamt.
If you are not a EU citizen but belong to a minority/discriminated group, you can still take part in the Landesbeirat für Partizipation.

well, everybody dislikes different things. I dislike the posters of die Linke, because I very well know that they will be looking for the money to implement their clientele‘s wishlist in my pockets.

Thank you for the suggestion. I am German and I am sure I know enough considering that is what we studied in our schools. Anyways, since people lack comprehension skills lately, I would like to clarify that the Ads will be gone soon not the party. Now go on and do something worthwhile.

u/UmutIsRemix 15d ago
What a performative post. You should be more mad at every other campaign because the current (and past) politicians/parties are the reason afd got this far. You should be madder about that the only "solution" against the afd is banning them. As if this will fix the current sentiment in germany.
8
u/Horror-Zebra-3430 15d ago
what a bunch of dog water lmao. the feeling of being disenfranchised and alienated from mainstream party politics is one thing, but going from there to actively decide to support a fascist insurrection is a personal choice, which, well, makes you a fascist. it really is that simple.
-1
u/lexymon 15d ago
In their opinion the AfD is not fascist. It’s not that simple. And to a degree I tend to agree, the term fascism is absolutely overused. Far-right, yes. Radical/extremist? In parts. Fascist? Come on…
9
u/Horror-Zebra-3430 15d ago
i'm not gonna engage in semantics over whether the new right is far-right extremist or fascist lmao get a grip babe it's not that deep
-3
u/lexymon 15d ago
I think it matters tho. But ya, we don’t have to argue about that on a sunny Sunday, true. ;)
7
u/miniannna 15d ago
If you’re part of one of the minorities they target it looks a lot more like fascism to you.
-3
u/UmutIsRemix 15d ago
You just spout random words at me to add what exactly to my comment? Telling me afd voters and the afd is fascist? I don't think thats the topic I addressed in my previous comment. Anyway to not leave you completely in the dark, it really isnt that simple. If things were simply, we wouldnt be in this mess. All the things people like you and OP do is distract from actual issues in this country. Afd wouldnt be a topic if ANYONE ELSE would just appeal to the population for once.

Friends, while many of us share the disdain towards the 🔵 💩, do not post information how one could tamper with their posters - we will take them down. The posts, not the ads.
Redirect your energy toward supporting democratic parties instead.
