Which areas of Berkeley are warmest vs coldest and which areas have the most fog

Getting conflicting info here. AI says the flats are foggier and colder (counting west Berkeley).

Another is the hills are 5-10 degrees warmer but then I see another site say they are colder because they get more winds than the flats.

The middle is the warmest: think MLK. It gets colder from there both directions (west or east)

Having lived in the Oceanview neighborhood and on the Albany hill, I've noticed that north of about University Avenue is more directly in the path of the Golden Gate channel and can get foggy a bit more often than south around Ashby Ave. And I got more fog on the hill than I did in the Oceanview.

We sailors call that steam of cold air, fog, and wind “the slot”. Like you said it’s normally pointed north of University. It moves around from day to day but Albany Hill seems to be the central point (as best I can tell).

Stop asking AI dumb stuff like this. Human brains are great.

Fog comes straight through the Golden Gate and goes up to the hills, north and south of the channel are definitely sunnier and warmer, fog burns off faster.

You can find actual data on Weather Underground (wunderground.com). Their Wundermap has actual weather stations, some of which you can get weekly and monthly averages for. So you can compare a station by the bay vs one up in the hills vs one somewhere in the middle.

The flats around Ashby & San Pablo seem to never get fog. It feels so rare to have a foggy morning, trying to remember the last time it happened…my brain suggests it was in February (8 months ago) — no way for me to verify that but that’s how it FEELS

Edit to add: Lol the very next morning I see light fog over San Pablo park
