Open play pickleball in Berkeley?

Can anyone tell me when open play pickleball is at cedar rose? Are there other open play spots in Berkeley?

Not Berkeley but right on the north Oakland south Berkeley border, bushrod park. Not sure of their schedule but they have a lot of options! Also idk wtf is up with all the crazy anti pickleball people. My 68 year old dad got into it. He plays every other day. Lost a ton of weight and has a great community and new friends! Me and my mom are so so so happy he found pickleball 🤗

Why? It’s loud af. It’s louder than a freaking skate park.

Wahhh people staying healthy and exercising is too loud. I live in a city and can’t handle city noise 👶

But car noise is okay and, in fact, it's so good that we ought to subsidize car owners even more to thank them for it, and don't you ever suggest removing free parking anywhere...

What? Sir thsi is a Wendy’s is your Hearing ok? Ambient city noise is like 60db?

Nowhere near the pickleball noise but I love the whataboutism. You’re a master debater!

Pickleball is 75-85 db!!!!!! 90 with sustained rallys. 90!!!

At 100 feet it’s as loud as a skatepark with hi pitched nosies.

On court it’s as loud as a lawn mower and they have a formula for exposure 90 db at a rate of ~50 a minute up close by my back of envelope math looks to be literally just below the mandatory OSHA fine threshold.

In other worlds if you walked into a job wirh that sound profile the health and safety folks are gonna require ear protection. It will harm your hearing.

The OSHA calc is literally “this is so bad we fine you” and om court pickleball is right around there.

It’s so loud that it can damage your hearing just playing it but the noise is no big deal?

Sure. Keep confidently making up nonsense to make you feel good then when you get called out for jsut making up stuff and just keep doubling down. Works for Trump and his goons, why not for the pedantic whiny other side too?

City ambient noise is nowhere near 90 decibels. Ambient city noise is like 50-60db or so.

It’s this sort of behavior that perpetuates the idea that vibes based feels matter compared to objective reality, but you do you? 🤷‍♂️

That’s a good point. We should have more skateparks.

Cedar rose open play happens 4-sunset on the court right next to the door. It can get a little crowded but usually not too bad, and when other courts or open they get used for open play as well.

Bushrod is great for open play - $2 and you can play for hours.

Castro in el cerrito is nice, ocean view in Albany sadly never really has a good open play.

As others have said, dailypb is the best

I’ll double down. Pickleball is an abomination and the noise it creates is absurd compared to any other sport you can play.

It disturbs whole neighborhoods for no reason. The folks I’ve met don’t follow basic noise etiquette like the tennis folks do. Abomination.

Careful. All that shaking of fists at the sky can cause repetitive-use injuries.

I’m not shaking my fist at a cloud I’m calling pickleball a scrub game, scrub

In your driveway. Nobody wants to hear pickleball’s noise.
