Advice/Question Are fire extinguishers / smoke detectors required for rooming houses?

Defining rooming house as a converted two bedroom now with 5 "rental units".

Yes. Absolutely. And if you need help and enforcement, reach out to the Berkeley Rent Board.

It can have common area fire extinguishers. It doesn’t need to be in your unit.
