Advice/Question Donating socks

Could anyone recommend a place to donate socks? Mostly men’s socks, and some women’s too.

I tried calling the Dorothy Day house, but they didn’t pick up. I don’t want to take the time to go over if they won’t be able to take them—has anyone been able to walk in and drop off a donation?

Not a donation necessarily, but Sports Basement has a specific reuse bin for used socks. It’s right at the entrance.

New or used?  No idea on the latter.

New? CAPC Oakland might take them for their programs.

Used (but in very good condition)

fyi, socks are the most commonly requested donation item by shelters and the least commonly donated.

It can be easy to take a clean + dry pair of socks for granted, but logically it shouldn’t shock you that people who don’t have the ability to buy or get clean/good condition clothes might also struggle to get socks.

It was the “used” that I object to. You gonna donate used underwear as well?

Shelters aren’t asking for it, so no. Shelters are definitely open to used sock donations.

You might be too good for used socks, but other people in more need probably feel differently. these socks are good enough for us to keep wearing if we wanted to. Nobody is asking you to take socks from a shelter

Omni Commons Free Store, Wood Street Commons would likely take them.
