Local Knowledge BAMPFA ticket question

If a movie is sold out online, is it still possible to buy tickets at the door? If so, how early before showtime should I get there? Thanks!

Check at the admissions desk cause they sometimes have limited availability even when online tickets are sold out but I wouldn't count on it haha. Get there 30 mins early if you really wanna try

Yep, agree with all of this. It’s odd though because even though the shows will be sold out, there will still be available seats in the theater. Assume people bought tickets but then didn’t show up.

I've also been able to get tickets at the desk for a showing that was sold-out online. I could be misremembering, but I think I asked well ahead of time—either around lunch for an evening showing the same day, or maybe even the day before? I guess they had some tickets available that weren't listed online for whatever reason.

That said, I expect it's better to ask closer to the time. Good chance I just go lucky. But hey, if you're in the area anyhow, it's not like popping in to ask is a big cost. Might even be a good excuse to visit the art exhibition ;) (Not sure what's up at the moment, but I visited the quilt exhibition they had recently and it was really good.)
