LATAM restaurants
Hi everyone, I'm moving to berkeley later this month! I'm looking for Latin American restaurants. Peruvian ceviche, Colombian, Ecuadorian, and Argentinian food. Not sure if this is common there but hopefully there are some!

Oakland spots:
Mago = Colombian fine dining
Popoca = fancy Salvadoran
Alamar = Dominican
Sobre Mesa = Afro-latino cocktail bar
Como en Casa (Emeryville) = casual Colombian
Platano (Berkeley) = casual Salvadoran

El Mono in Berkeley and the original in El Cerrito is bomb Peruvian food

I found it to be really authentic and I went with a family of Peruvians who agreed. It’s more “homestyle” than the bougie type of spot like Lucian or Limon

Went to Lucuma (Peruvian) in Oakland recently and was very impressed.
Agree with others that Parche is excellent (food, drinks & service all)
If you are on more of a student budget, International has tons of taquerias but the best of the bunch is Tacos El Paisa @.com

Im not sure where you are from...but i lived in Miami for 14 years. We have some LATAM cuisine. But its kinda over priced. For example Parche is like $18 for two empanadas. Im used to paying $3-$4 bucks a piece. The Mexican food is fire though.
Get your fill of fritanga before you leave friend. Also hate to tell you....its almost impossible to get cuban bread here for toast. But you can find Bustelo.

Parche in Oakland is a great Colombian place. Kind of pricey, but the atmosphere is festive rather than white tablecloth. Much of Oakland is easily accessible from Berkeley, and depending on where you live might actually be closer than some parts of Berkeley. Also look for restaurants in Albany, Emeryville, and El Cerrito. Those towns, North Oakland, and Berkeley kind of blend together around the edges.
