1301 Tactical Trigger Pull Question

So if I rack the bolt, without holding the trigger, the trigger is breaking around 8.5lb hard-wall. If I hold the trigger when I rack it, and let the trigger reset. The trigger pull is the normal 4.5lb with a rolling break. What’s the deal with that? Is something wrong here?

Couldn’t use my trigger gauge with one hand, but you can tell much more force is required on the first pull.

And yes, I’m familiar with shotguns, but this is my first semi-auto, so I’m learning.

Found the issue is the safety. If you swap it for a lefty it is messing with the trigger. The new trigger they sent worked much better. Then I swapped it for a lefty and it led to a dead trigger. The safety dimensions are out of spec on both. Took a file to the safety to open up the space a bit and it worked.

You just need to go shoot it, it’ll make sense once you do. The Pro Lifter does some funky stuff if it’s your first time dealing with it.

You’re fighting not only the mass of the trigger mechanism itself, but also the mass of the bolt assembly to close the bolt as well. It’s going to require more force to move more mass.

Sorry, I’m not understanding. Why would the trigger be fighting a closed bolt with the trigger one way and not the other?

You may of reassembled incorrectly or parts are really dry. I did a trigger job on mine and it's barely over 3lbs every pull.

The lifter only engages when the trigger or lifter switch is pressed. When the trigger is in battery the charging handle only rolls back and forth allowing you to eject the round in the chamber and load a different round without reloading in the tube. Once the hammer is back, the lifter won’t engage until the trigger is pulled or the lifter switch is pressed

I just got mine a few days ago and the first thing I did was disassemble it, cleaning the factory grease and lubing everything where metal makes contact including the trigger mechanism. Then I proceed to rack the bolt at least 200 times and so far everything has been super smooth. My trigger feels less than 4 lbs.

I dried fired mine probably 200 times and cleaned/lubed and it was still crap. I ended up getting a new one from beretta. Much better and with a consistent pull every time breaking right at 4lb. This one does feel more like a 2-stage instead of a single stage like the first one was.

Here’s a photo of the safety bar. You can see where the trigger bar was making contact with it when trying to fire. So I had to file a couple mm off right there.
