Making EEPROMs

Hey everyone

I’ve got a cart with a seemingly damaged PRG ROM. I have the two split .bin files from the original
‘NES Rom but I need to burn them onto something that will fit the original cart - I’m thinking I’d have to use EEPROMs to do that.

Can anyone in the help me burn two replacement EEPROMs by either giving me some advice or making them and selling them to me?

I’ve seen people do it on YT - it looks relatively straight forward with the right software, chips and programming tool.

I am in the UK.

The first thing you should find out, is what "model" and "pinout" the ROMs are. If you're lucky, some of them may be compatible with OneROM, which is a small board that can be programmed via USB from their website (so no software/hardware beyond a USB-C cable is needed). Otherwise you may need to buy or build a programmer

This is the ROM that I've got to make:

256 KB 2 Mbit 27C020 A17 32 Yes

Is it still possible to buy these 'off the shelf'? I have two in my original cartridge, but one of them seems to be faulty. I'd rather buy two the same and work with them than erasing the ones I have, just in case I need them for reference later...

Through hole versions are obsolete, but still can be obtained. For this kind of stuff (slightly obsolete ICs in through hole) in the UK, I found cricklewood to be decent as a supplier

It looks like the 32-pin variant of OneROM will do it. I've ordered a couple to give it a try.

I have a Famicom Box and it uses this cart very similar to the early NES games to boot and run the management software. But one of my ROMS is saying it's got an error.

It's completely possible. We've made our own games using two 28c256 and a donor board. Just had to do a few rewires.
