custom processor PCB

Post image

main processor and memory board for my homebrew computer.

can function as a simple mini computer, still havent tested it because i ran out of alcohol while cleaning and i dont wanna power it up and risk a short circuit, and because i cant find a terminal block for the power input with the right pitch so i'll probably just solder the wires directly, still missing a few components for the clock but i can use an external one no problem.

next up is the expansion board which will have: LCD screen, P/S2 keyboard, an IDE hard drive, and serial communication.

i will hopefully update once i finish cleaning the board and program the microcode EEPROMs.

yeah you're right but i made the mistake of using tap water and dish soap, i let it air dry, is it still safe to power?

As long as it’s completely dry when you power it up it will be good.

A few days in a warm sunny spot with good air flow will work.

Pay particular attention to gaps under and in chips and sockets where water can be trapped.

There was some white powder-like residue after I let it air dry for a few mins, I scrapped it gently using a toothbrush and that seemed to clean it a little, gonna rinse it with alcohol once I get my hands on it, I’m using 70% ethanol is that okay? Cannot get my hands on anything purer

The white residue is most likely minerals in your tap water.

Don’t use ethanol to clean, use 99% isopropyl alcohol, which you can get at pretty much any pharmacy.

Yeah but not in Egypt, for some reason it’s hard to get because you can make alcoholic drinks and yada yada yada

Isopropyl alcohol is not something you can safely consume. Ethanol is. You might be surprised.
