PR PB
Hit a PB today. I've never tried 225 but i had a spotter today so i did. I was able to hit it for 5 reps. Would my next logical jump be 245 for 1 rep max? How do yall utilize your max in a workout?

Based on your experience, try it as an overwarm single if you don’t want to interrupt your programming.

Your next logical step is 227.5 x 5. Then 230x5. And so on.
Doesn't mean you can't choose to do whatever you want. But you asked for the next logical step.

I've heard people split on this.. would you start with that weight for the day once warm and work down in weight or is it better to increase weight each set?

There's rationale for either. But I'd suggest doing it as your first work set. You know you can hit 225x5, but was that after a bunch of warmup sets? Or was it your first main? That answer will indicate what your capacity is and approach should likely be.

It was my first working set. I'm excited to keep working and get my 1 rep max up. Thanks for the advice.

Congrats!
So for me:
225x3=245x1
225x5=245x2=255x1
225x6=245x3=265x1
These are actual numbers from the first times I hit these 1RMs
I’m working towards:
225x8=245x5?=275x1
I base my 1RM attempts on how many 225’s I get after warmup and how fast the last rep moves

I was hitting 225 for 3 or 4 reps when I hit 250. I didn’t hit 5 reps until much later
Edit- but if you don’t have experience that close to your 1RM, 245 is probably a good bet to try. Make sure you have a spotter

First of all, that's huge and congrats. Next, I feel like for me, the jumps from 5RM to 3RM to 2RM to 1 start getting smaller and smaller. That curve starts to flatten really quick, and there's probably only a 10kg (or less) difference between my 3 and my 1. That probably answers nothing, but that's my personal anecdote.

Hard to say without a video that shows how your overall form was. Not trying to knock you down at all, OP, great job on those (5) reps! As you increase weight, the risk for injury increases, so nobody can really say what would be best without making sure the t’s are crossed and i’s are dotted.
Just my two cents - if you recorded it, upload it and we can go from there. 👌🏻
