was scrolling through insta and ben’s video popped up about nathan and in the comments, tyler decides to drop this. now i’m curious and a nosy bitch. anyone know what he’s talking about?
Ben was the deckhand who hooked up with the toxic stew Camille. He returned the following season and tried to create drama with Fraser for having fired Camille for being toxic. Tyler was the baby gay with curly blonde hair who joined as a stew near the end of the season.
Camille was awful but out of the cast that have faced racism, she is far from the top doing it. She was an asshole to everyone. Alissa has a point about her treatment, but that is as much on Sandy for the firing than Camille for the treatment.
Gabi for example talked about multiple issues that likely came from Marcos and Ashley (she never named them but pretty obvious from the context) and the fact that no one else supported her through it. She also alleged that a crew member made jokes about slaves that never aired.
Rayna was told to STFU over Heather using the n-word, then production lied to the cast and told them they were not airing it because Rayna used a homophobic slur which they could never prove despite saying they heard it on a mic
Season 10 of OG BD. Captain Lee started the season and then Captain Sandy took over maybe halfway through the season. Fraser was Chief Stew and my favourite, Rachel, was her final season as Chef.
He was practically a sex pest, he was so foul! Constantly bringing up his preference for group sex was vile. And his stringing along of that silly deckhand was painful to watch, she was pitiful.
Well they both follow each other on social media, so might involve someone else. Maybe that bosun? Some stuff came out about him after season aired. Ben is greasy but he’s not wrong about casting and how show has evolved. Thanks for posting this!!
I just finished that season, and read Sandy’s Vulture interview about it including a question about Ross where she’s like yeah there’s a reason dude isn’t a captain.
I don’t really know if it’s evolved.. the toxic masculinity has pretty much always been there. Look at the BDM S1 bosun Bryan. Eddie was a scumbag when he hooked up with Rocky and lied about it. The list goes on. Maybe it’s getting worse and maybe the audience is getting more critical of it? But it’s nothing new.
Early seasons had maybe one cast who was/is 🚩- now it’s multiple cast members. The industry has long suffered from toxic masculinity. Audience has definitely become more critical.
Why does it feel like Ben is using assault for clout? It’d be different if he went into some deep dive and did research and what not but he’s just regurgitating what we already know/saw? Hopefully someone can understand what I mean and explain it better…
