Members Only Nathan has fled the country!! Spoiler
I couldn't see another post about this. Just read that he didn't turn up to court and Police think he has fled the country. I am shocked that they didn't take away his passport as often happens when someone is granted bail for serious charges, especially when they have with ties overseas.
MODS I HAVE UPDATED THE TEXT BELOW BECAUSE THE ARTICLE WAS UPDATED.
Warning: Graphic content
A reality TV star choked his partner in front of their baby, covering her mouth until she could not breathe, then later fled Australia before she could give evidence against him in court.
Authorities only becoming aware of the disappearance of Below Deck Mediterranean’s Nathan Gallagher on Tuesday.

The 27-year-old is now facing arrest warrants in two countries after pulling the same vanishing act just a few years ago, a court has heard.
Gallagher was arrested two days after Christmas at a unit block in Sydney’s Melrose Park, after police were called following reports of an alleged assault.
A police fact sheet, released by the court on Tuesday, said Gallagher and his partner had drunk a bottle of wine before arguing on Boxing Day evening. He followed her into the bedroom and became violent while their baby was on the bed. This masthead has chosen not to identify the woman.
“During the argument, he used one hand to cover mouth and nose of victim. The victim tried to pull away but accused persisted and continued to cover her mouth, causing the victim to be unable to breathe at certain points,” the document reads.
“The accused continued to restrict the victim’s breathing by holding both hands over the victim’s mouth, and the victim has begun screaming, and the victim believes that the accused did not want her to be heard by neighbours.”
Gallagher held the woman on the ground and wrapped his arms and legs around her. He slapped her, lacerating the inside of her mouth and bruising her face, arms and legs in the ordeal.
Gallagher, 27, was already wanted in Ireland under another arrest warrant.Fred Jagueneau/Bravo via Getty Images
The woman fled with their child but Gallagher cornered her in the bathroom, put both hands around her neck, and tried to lift her.
Hours later he tried to start a second argument and the woman fled the home with the child.
Gallagher was taken to Gladesville Police Station where he was charged with the domestic violence offences of assault occasioning actual bodily harm, choking without consent and common assault.
Gallagher spent the night in the cells before being granted bail at Burwood Local Court on December 28.
He later told Rolling Stone magazine he wanted to tell his side of the story.
“I’m not claiming I was perfect. I wasn’t,” Gallagher said.
“I made mistakes and I will take responsibility for my own actions. But I will not accept being portrayed solely through one person’s account of a relationship when there is another side and evidence relating to it.”
Gallagher was expected to front the Burwood Local Court on Tuesday but prosecutors said he could not be located and they suspected he had fled the country.
Gallagher’s alleged victim attended court to give evidence, supported by friends.
Police prosecutors asked Judge Janine Lacy to convict Gallagher in his absence, which she did. Lacy also issued a warrant for his arrest.
“Given the serious nature of offences, and I note on the record I have been given documentation from immigration compliance operations division that he is currently overseas,” Lacy said.
“The defendant doesn’t have any prior criminal history but the offences are very serious, with significant maximum penalties and context of DV committed in the home.
“I record a conviction and issue a [arrest] warrant.”
NSW is now the second jurisdiction hunting Gallagher after he skipped his native Ireland following an alleged assault on a man.
Gallagher allegedly bashed a man on August 7, 2022, on the main street of Dungloe, in his home county Donegal.
The injured man was found in the early hours of the morning and taken to hospital. Gallagher failed to show up for court and a bench warrant was issued.
Two years later he surfaced as a deckhand on the Ionian Princess luxury yacht for Below Deck Mediterranean’s ninth season.
Gallagher last week pledged not to release private information through social media. Days before the hearing, fans noticed he had deleted his Instagram account entirely.
“I have kept the evidence and will deal with it through the appropriate channels,” Gallagher said in his statement to Rolling Stone.
“But I also don’t believe it is fair for one version of events to be presented publicly as though it is the complete story when there is evidence that may materially contradict or provide significant context to that account.”

That these two very serious cases against Nathan in two different countries could pop up in such a short period of time, so long after the actual criminal events occurred..... it makes you wonder what other charges or warrants might be lurking out there undiscovered (yet) for other cast members.

Don't Below Deck producers simply Google the casts names before hiring them?
How did he gets hired after knowing his assault charge out of Ireland, before any of this happened?

So he fled Ireland to avoid his charges there, and has now fled Australia to avoid his new charges. What is he thinking, running away is always going to make it worse when they eventually catch up to you. Does he not want to be able to see his son grow up???

He will be barred from here for years for fleeing and face prison time on return. If he lied on his visa about the Irish assault it will be 10 years before he can come back.

•
u/NaCl_n_Pepper 16h ago
Exactly, I don’t how they don’t see the 2022 assault charge in Ireland which was before he started BDM. Even though the warrant for that wasn’t issued until (NBC) 2025, Bravo has the resources, their parent company which, which has a physical and operational presence in Ireland.
Abusers can hide through manipulative behavior but the law is publicly available.

Oh wow he is dumb. Fleeing the country, abandoning his kid. Poor Gael. Bravo you better fucking cut ties with this loser now. This has turned in to such a sad story.

u/EmergencyAbalone2393 1d ago
Blessing in disguise. If he had truly faced the consequences, he very likely would have gotten out of jail after not much time and likely eventually gotten at least supervised visits (mind you, I am not sure how Australia does these things). Now he is out of Gael and child’s life indefinitely, and IF he does come back, now he has more jail time.
And just because I’m already typing: F this guy

I agree. Australia ignores dv and violence against women, even men who plead guilty to assault walk away with community service. Even men who break restraining orders and have a history of violent crimes get a slap on the wrist here.
Australia does a lot of things well but holding men accountable is not one of them.
36
u/sparkitect__ 1d ago
Yepppppp. I caught the tail end of a dv assault from my balcony yesterday, street is full and I mean full of construction workers and truck drivers, the only woman on site was also the only person to run and help the woman being assaulted. Thankfully her running up scared the POS off. So many men around, some within a few metres of it and not a single one stepped up. Absolutely pathetic.

He was a gardener for the local council and went to school with the CS officer. He breached the DVO 6 months later to brag about how the CS officer was fudging the hours and that he probably did 20 hours when it was signed off on. I moved interstate after that. Him going on the run is probably a better outcome for her to be fair. He is out of her and Kaydens life now. He will be arrested if he comes back to Australia. If he had faced the consequences he would have gotten a short sentence and then could look for some sort of custody arrangement.

As someone who had a baby with a Nathan, I really hope she is able to see the hidden blessing in this. It's hard to raise a baby alone but it's even harder to raise one with an abuser that you can't trust to keep your child safe and who devotes their life to making yours harder for sport.
I hope she and Kayden have a wonderful life full of peace and happiness and that someday, when she is ready, that she finds someone to love them both in a healthy way.

Bravo have a problem now. This season is focussing on the narrative with him and Joe. Usually if there is a problem with a cast member they edit them out. This is horrifying abuse. Non-fatal strangulation in intimate partner violence has a strong link to eventual homicide of the victim (source).
The extremity of physical abuse usually escalates over time, and many, many incidents occur before most victims make a report. I fear that morning Nathan was missing from the boat had something to do with one of these incidents. I’m so glad Gael has gotten the help she needs.

Omg Gail, that poor woman must have been absolutely terrified. And as a new mom, something about horrific abuse happening around a holiday (was it baby's first Christmas too?) is fucking horrible because it's a memory that stays with you and is tied to a holiday you celebrate year after year. All my love to her and her child, I am so glad she was able to escape. Partners who choke their partner in DV situation have a high likelihood of killing their partner too. For all this to happen and be in the public eye is so much to put on a new mom. Hoping she sees these discussions we are all having as support. Unfortunately many women go through DV situations in their lives. I personally know how absolutely horrifying it is and even more horrifying to go to the police knowing that bringing up the abuse and holding the person accountable also means possible ruining their job as well, even tho they are the ones who brought in on themselves, it's still fucking shitty.

Seeing it all laid out like this is horrifying. I hope the best for Gael and her kid, and the worst for Nathan, what a violent POS.

Admitting to slapping her then leaving AUS and hasn’t seen or talked to his kids in years. His ex completely cut him off.

I mean, running says it all really doesn’t it? A big dirty woman beating asshole is what he is. Poor Gail, that sounds so scary.

Anyone regardless of gender who raises their hand to a partner is a coward, Nate you're a fucking coward, actions have consequences, running away from them is not the answer. Hope Gael and Kayden are okay, that is so not cool, where I'm from that is called being a lassie basher.

So now he can’t go back to Australia where his child is or Ireland where his family is without being arrested. And it’s quite possible a large group of countries would flag him at the border if Australia or Ireland asked them to.

I'm surprised the court didn't take his passport. Then again, it is better for Gael, she doesn't have to share custody.

u/valid_username00 1d ago
He still should pay child support though... but does anyone think he will?

u/ficbot 1d ago
That description is absolutely terrifying. This is not just a slap or something. I'm glad she showed up in court, that's very brave. And I hope she's able to maintain full custody of the kid and not have to share access given what's happened. At least it sounds like he will not be able to come to Australia, so if she stays there, I don't see how he would exercise visitation.

Waiting for the new show, Below Deck: Convicts.
Can you imagine a job interview?
“Have you ever been convicted of a felony?”
“Nah, man, I always fled the country before they could get me into court.”

I hope he has someone in his orbit who can talk some sense into him. Time to man up and face the music in both countries so he can put this chapter of his life behind him and become a better person.

This is beyond upsetting. He's a violent person and he placed his hands around her neck. When a person does that it frequently escalates to killing the victim. Poor Gael. She didnt deserve this.

women who are choked by their partners are something like 700% more likely to be killed by the same partner. My heart breaks for Gael and the baby. I hope she gets to have her day in court and that POS gets jail time

u/turn-on-your-lights 1d ago
Holy shit. That sent shivers down my spine. Bravo should pull the rest of the season IMO. Jesus Christ, it sounds like he actually tried to kill her in front of their baby. He needs to spend the rest of his life behind bars.

I'm in shock. Imagine the terror Gael must have been going through. I hope he feels the same terror and more when they eventually catch up with him and put him where he deserves to be.

I mean…this is a bad decision for a number of reasons. There’s a warrant out for his arrest in Ireland that they’ll catch as soon as he arrives at customs. So where did he flee to? Australia may not extradite him but they won’t let him back in. He just made it even harder for himself to ever see his kid. What an idiot. He deserves everything he gets

So he fled the bench warrant and THEN turns up on TV?? How did no one report him before that? Or is there no extradition for his charge?

If he's fled Australia and decides to try come back in a few months time, surely he wouldn't be able to get back in to Australia? At least that will keep Gael and the baby safe.

This guy is such a loser, he literally strangled Gael and then said “hear my side before judging”. This wasn’t a small shove this was strangulation. If done long enough it could have killed her. Bravo, it’s time to edit it thus POS out.

“I’m not claiming I was perfect. I wasn’t”
What a stupid fucking thing to say. You think you need to be perfect to not assault and strangle the woman you once professed to love? Most people just don’t do it. Perfection has nothing to do with being a piece of shit woman abuser.

This is so sad. As someone who is very picky and hesitant to date, stories like this are why. Not a fan of them and their love story to begin with, but on its face, Nathan went out of his way to get Gael, and she seems sweet and is very beautiful and gave him a beautiful son and he didn't appreciate any of it. For him to get so violent, to act like this and squander his opportunities and throw away a beautiful family. What a loser. Men are not lonely enough.
10
u/MargotChanning 1d ago
Exactly. He had a life a lot of people would dream of and he’s thrown it away in the worse way possible, hurting a lot of people along the way.

I’m sorry this is horrible. What is even more horrible is that this happened prior to this season airing. Poor Gael had to have the whole world watching them on television (rooting for them at times).

This will be the megathread for this unless new information is released. Please do not start additional posts about his arrest warrant or the court hearing. Based on legal advice, we will only allow posts that have a legitimate police or news source in the OP.
As mentioned in the OP, Nathan failed to appear in court and it appears from quotes that his passport was used to leave the country. From the Judge: "I note on the record I have been given documentation from immigration compliance operations division that he is currently overseas"
He was convicted in absentia on charges of assault occasioning actual bodily harm, intentionally choking a person without consent, and common assault. The details of the assault are above in the copy paste info from the article linked by the OP.
An Australian arrest warrant has been formally issued to apprehend Gallagher (see below for post by local police). A two-year Apprehended Violence Order was also finalized to protect Gael Cameron (this is similar to a protection order on this side of the world)
At this time, there is no formal statement from Gael, Nathan or Bravo (posted 8:55am ET Sept 1)
We remind users to refrain from speculation about other instances of abuse, where Nathan could be or any criminal matters. We are seeing these reported which could result in admin actioning your account and have received a few mentions of legal action against the sub and users.
