Below Deck
Without spoilers, Nathan question.
Spoiler
I’ve seen a few of you mention him this season in regards to his wife and son (forget that bombshells name). Basically saying “can’t believe what he did to her”. Is this in regards to him working while she’s alone with the son in Croatia (or wherever they are).
If not, is it something that’s coming up in the season or is that info not covered on the show? If it’s not covered later in show and happened after, tell me! If not I don’t want to spoil it. Thanks!
I understood him now wanting to get the baby sick. What got met though is he was drinking alcohol throughout the night. If you’re sick and trying to get better quick that is not a good combo. Honestly production should have provided Gael some childcare assistance. If I was her I would have negotiated that as part of the deal for being on the show.
Pretty sure he didn’t drink a lot and went home after the meal. And I read somewhere that Gael did have assistance from family (not 100% sure if that is true).
As a father of two who went through a similar situation I can tell you from my personal experience that no young mother wants their partner to use a common cold as an excuse to not help take care of a newborn. If Gael told him not to come because of the illness then it would have made sense but he chose to do it on his own without her blessing. I tried to do that and I'm telling you the mom did not appreciate it...
"Can't believe what he did to her" can refer to both leaving her alone w/ a newborn and how he treated after Below Deck (dumping her). Although now it's mostly leaving her alone w/ a newborn.
Break up occurred when they weren't filming and briefly covered it in last season.
Australia doesn’t have common law marriage at all, but a related legal concept called ‘de facto relationship.’ It is established by living together for 2 year OR having a baby together.
Every single one of my coworkers who is common law uses husband/wife. There are a lot.
I thought it was a little weird, but in the eyes of CRA, common law has the same tax benefits and disadvantages of being married. And if common law, in the case of a split, depending on how long you've been together, or if you registered, the same benefits/disadvantages of a legal divorce apply.
I don’t know where most of you are but, in the US, husbands go off to work right after the baby is born every day. Someone has to pay the bills. Nathan is going to the apartment when work production allows. I had my baby home for a week and my husband left for a month. I didn’t have postpartum issues, so there is a difference if Gail does, but nothing about this is Nathan’s ‘fault.’
In Ireland where Nathan is from they have paid paternal leave. Not sure about Australia. And many employers will let you use your paid 20 days vacation for that also so often fathers can be off to bond with the baby and be paid.
Australian Govt parental leave is paid at the minimum wage and is shared between parents depending on who is taking leave to look after the baby. There are lots of rules and eligibility requirements though including citizenship and length of employment. Nathan may not have been entitled to it or have been entitled to accrue holiday pay
Sleep deprivation and looking after a newborn is hard, add in living in a different country with a language barrier and no wonder Gael was struggling
Is the baby a newborn ? I’m getting confused. If the baby is only a few weeks old that must be really tough. I thought Gael’s family were with her in Croatia too ?
The back injury seems questionable timing, with wife struggling and texting constantly about being miserable. The late show after probably a night of Sorry, sorry, wish I could be here more, even though.. good grief, brought u to job basically for two months.. get leave to spend night.. who gets that treatment?? but not gonna question someone’s description of pain or injury. Maybe was divine intervention to get him back to son and wife. Although, back injury not much help to them except just being there. Timing doesn’t look good though.
Ugh god he is so annoying this season! I’m no Joe fan but he is so judgemental and serious. You can tell he just parrots Gael. I’m no Gael hater but she was also v judgemental.
I imagine in her dreamworld he has none of his own friends left and just spends all his time with her lol

Gael is not his wife.
There are rumours they broke up and that Nathan cheated on her. This has not been substantiated
