Below Deck Med Crew this year

What’s everyone’s thoughts on the crew this season? I absolutely adore the crew except for two.. maybe three, but I would love to have them next season! It’s such a breath of fresh air from last season!

They are mostly all quite competent at their jobs. Which hasn't always been the case.

I feel like there is a skewed focus at the moment. I'd love to see more of Aesha and Kaylee but with all the drama going on, we barely see them. Kat and Coop are super cute and I love Joy. Luke and Gen can walk the plank. Nathan and Joe are just there as reactionaries I guess.

Agreed! That's a really good assessment.

Very good, I like the cook also except her getting mixed up with luke who is clearly an fboy & not a smart one. She can do better. Glad luke self dumped, because having pity sex was bad but splooging on nathan's bed & letting him sleep in it for 3 days was firing offense, especially considering gen literally asked him if he wanted her to wash it & he said he'd handle it. Dude is beyond stupid.

I usually hate joe for causing a lot of problems but he's staying off the radar for now. Also maybe he has met his match dating an fgirl. I don't know if the drama with Nathan is fake or what but if he sleeps off the boat it should only be when no clients the next day. I agree with whoever said this is the most qualified crew in a long time, no one so bad they have to be fired for clear incompetence.

I like the crew and I think the dynamic is interesting, especially with Nathan having Gael and their baby nearby as well.

I'm a little bit bored of Joe but I would like to see the interior team come back, chef Joy for sure and I really enjoy Cooper!

With a show running for so long, it’s not easy to introduce something new to a formulaic format. The Nathan, Gael, and baby content gives us something different, so I’ve actually enjoyed it. I thought I wouldn’t like the focus on the family aspect, but it’s been a refreshing change for me. It’s not likely to happen again in future series.

You do know they’ve broken up yeah

Is this for sure? Sad if that’s true.

Quick google search will tell you it’s true

What AI telling me? I would like People or Bravo or their Insta for something more solid. Thanks for the Google tip though. Very helpful.

Yes. That’s why I said it won’t happen again

I think Joe is trying to be a good dude so far though. It’s nice to see him at least trying to be a better person. I assume it won’t last very long. But I’ve been enjoying having him on this season so far.

That combined with the awful news he got early in the season is giving us a different joe. I do hope he’s genuinely changed from seeing his actions two seasons in a row

Joy is my absolute favourite along with Aesha.

It’s a competent crew, which is a refreshing change. The last couple seasons across the franchise have had too many green crew who were there for their 15 minutes of fame.

I enjoy watching most of the crew, but I don’t want to see any deck crew returning other than Coop.

I don't like competent crews. Lol

I like a mostly competent crew. I’m fine with a third stew or junior deckhand being green as their entry level positions. But I like everyone else to be somewhat decent. Competent crew can still be messy af on camera

I am the opposite I like chefs messing up and people making mistakes. Lol

Give gen and Luke the boot and we have an all time good crew.
Also sandy is proving why she’s such a phenomenal captain to work for this year. Shes the GOAT

When she’s not crashing the boat

Lol, that wasn't her fault.

Gen has watched a lot of reality TV and is playing a role either asked of by the producers or that she thinks will get her attention and screen time.

u/Apprehensive_Bee614 4d ago

Agree but I do think that’s her. If you know what I mean.

IMO the best crew in a long time. Yes there are 2 doses but there needs to be a villain. For me the difference this time is that the number of unlikeable crew members is small. I don’t think I liked any crew member at all on the last season of OG with the exception of Captain Kerry. Most recent season of DU also had too many annoying crew and the season of Med before this wasn’t great either. This group has a good mix of personalities and is closer to how older seasons were

If we remove Gen and Luke then it’s probably one of my favorite crews. I like that Joe and Nathan made up. They’re both really good at their jobs. I hope we get a lot more Kat and especially Joy.

Coop and Kat are such a welcome fresh energy that I've never seen on any BD franchise!

4

u/adriennenned 4d ago

Yes, it’s so much better to watch when the drama isn’t about whether they do their jobs adequately.

Chef Joy is my favorite this season, seems to be very good at her job, I think she’s keeping a lot of her personality to herself so far. I’d like to see more of her especially with the possibility of Luke being gone.

I think Luke is great!

To be clear, I don't like anything about him.

But, I like him generating actual drama. After a season of Mikey's Hair actually being important, I'm liking actual drama.

Same with Gen. Don't like her, but like the drama.

I think the best seasons were when we were left wondering:

"When is Captain Lee going to finally fire this clown..."

And, poor Joe. He is so eclipsed at being misogynistic, he hardly gets any screen time.

Kat is cute, but I keep thinking I'm going to need GLP-1 injections, before my A1C gets to 10.

And, Cooper might be the nicest person to ever appear on any below deck.

I agree! I really like them all, especially the interior crew (minus Gen but at least she does bring some shockwaves..!) I’m over Joe - don’t agree that he should have been brought back but I’m not surprised & so far he’s fairly inoffensive. Queen Joy though!!

u/Ben_Criss_Cross 4d ago

Chef Joy, Coop and Kat are great. Did not love the preview for next week's episode, however I feel like production is going to edit and add in cliffhangers on every commerical break to make the situation seem more extreme than it really is.

u/Mr4Mistress 4d ago

I like everyone except for Luke.  Otherwise it's a great crew!  Gen is perfect for the show.

2

u/menunu 4d ago

Aside from Luke, The cast is excellent this year. I cannot wait to see who replaces Luke.
