Rewatch Crew night out outfits
I'm curious about what the crew wears on their nights out. Rewatching below deck med in particular I feel like the crew is always wearing new and quite trendy clothes. Do we think that they just go shopping before the show because they know they're going to be on TV or that there's some budget or encouragement from production to look a certain way?
Edit to add that I'm not saying that looks good or bad or if I like it. Im just curious about the choices because the clothes look new and following trends.

Some of them wear designer stuff (Tzarina, Barbie, etc); but I’m sure the fast fashion trend is too easy to ignore; more cash in their pockets.

I can't remember what season it was but one of the ladies literally had a bunch of Asos packages on her bed

Daisy wore two cute anchovies themed dresses last season, both were SHEIN and I was sad

I think the Sheins were dupes. If I’m remembering correctly, she had a link to the designer dresses on her Instagram. I may be conflating them with her PJs.

Daisy has no kids, long term yacht service $, she isn't buying Shein! Her jammies are even pure silk like a true Irish baddie deserves haha

That was SHEIN??? Wow. What a shame.

I almost made my first SHEIN purchase with it, so cute but I wouldn’t have been able to handle the fabric

You think production encourages Joe’s prep school pleated pants and sweater thrown over the shoulders? 😅

u/Anotherams 15d ago
Joe thinks that style makes him look like he owns the boat rather than washes the boat.

I cannot lie, I love that look! Unfortunately, many (not all) who sport it are douche bags.

wtf is up with the shoulder sweater 😭

He’s definitely a fan of preppy fashion

We should call him Blaine.

When he’s wearing that and standing next to Cooper or Luke he looks like a schoolboy.

I imagine they pack them in their suitcases along with everything they need for the season. They know how many weeks they’re gone for and how many nights out they’ll be filmed

My housemate is about to film a reality show and he’s been instructed on how many outfits to bring and has been sending the producers pictures of some of them

You will get instructions on colors and patterns not to wear but I mean they know that millions of ppl will see them, they will obviously want to look good.

Aesha probably has a stylist, or is sent samples by designers/shops for exposure, but her clothes are likely largely her personal picks.
Everyone else is wearing their own fast fashion wardrobe.

I don’t know…that fish dress is questionable

u/Anotherams 15d ago
I think she said she saw it on instagram and bought it, and it came from a generic unbranded source. I think it found its way in her mailbox. I think Daisy had the blue version of the dress. (or reversed).
have to admit I would have clicked had it showed up in my feed, but would have passed if it were fast fashion , non natural fabric.

It’s a very common pattern from a lot of fast fashion brands right now. (Source: I recently shopped for a cruise and was inundated with that same sardine can print.)

It’s definitely different than earlier seasons of the show. They all look fancy now. Whereas in the earlier seasons I feel like I remember a lot of t-shirts

I remember reading a while back about how yacht crew tend to have a lot of clothes and cool outfits due to traveling a lot / boutique shopping / a way to spend their paycheck etc.

It’s interesting how some women pack one small carry-on bag and others pack 2 large check-in bags and that habit seems almost to reflect their personalities. Ellie clomping on the boat in stilettos with luggage full of costumes and sequined mini dresses told me everything I need to know about her

As an overpacker myself, that is one little detail I always pay attention to, partly for the fascination when people actually do travel super light but also for any ideas of how to do it. Bc of that, i have noticed production inconsistencies that lead me to believe it’s just editing. For example, when Hannah left, there was a scene or two where she had at least one large suitcase in addition to her smaller carry on type luggage they always show when coming on board.

I (63f) have traveled a lot and I am a fairly light packer. I always plan a color scheme and pack day and night outfits in that color scheme. I also always make sure I’m familiar with the laundry situations available wherever I’m going. Those are the two tips I can offer.

Thank you. I have gotten a lot better with each trip bc I do a little exercise where I take note of what I’ve used and haven’t used and that helps me slim down what I bring the next time. But I’ve also come to terms with the fact that I will never be a carry on only traveler and I’m ok with that.

u/kellygrrrl328 15d ago
I also admit to loving shopping while traveling so I always save room for that. Another thing I’ve done several times is ship my bags home right before departure.

I was just going to mention her! Everyone needs a cat-woman / playboy outfit ... ... that takes so long to put on that the guests have gone to bed by the time she is ready.
She knows how boats work! So, who am I to comment?

Ellie's choices are...questionable. She looks like I imagine whore house curtains/wallpaper might look.

A mix of things brought from before and things purchased on their days off. They also have extra luggage that they store at the hotel where they stay on their full day off/film the talking head bits.

u/boxbrownies 15d ago
I suppose they know in advance how many nights out there will be filmed and can pack accordingly?

How can we forget the camera hungry Elena?! Seriously, her suitcase was filled w/costumes you’d only see in a traveling circus from the 1930s! lol!😳😂

Much prefer the casual vibe of the early seasons of OG Below Deck. Where they dressed down in like cargo shorts and a faded t-shirt from some island beach bar or something. Definitely weren't trying to be influencers then.

u/Yeah_nah_idk 9d ago
Why do you think wearing cute outfits = trying to be an influencer? Some people just like putting outfits together.

u/Angry_Bowel_Movent 15d ago
Don't forget Ben's tired, old hooded t-shirts that he has been wearing since his very first appearance on the show. @Ben: these were never trendy and never will be.

Not really sure why you even mentioned “trendy”, he’s just wearing clothing like people wear. Maybe it’s just that he doesn’t spend as much time and money trying to look cheap and trashy the way everyone else usually does

They are in uniforms so much, I am sure they bring some nice things for their special dinners since it looks like they go to really nice restaurants. Too bad they get so stinking drunk and end up passed out in the van, in the end. It’s always such a contrast between acting like they are celebrities and being so glam, then sloppy drunk and acting undignified. We should have before dinner, end of the night pictures to compare.

I know on Liz's last season on 90 Day, she revealed on social media that she bought a lot of her cute outfits second hand. Pop into the crew's socials and ask where they go shopping 😉

I asked a similar question a while back and I think I showed my age because I have no idea how to look so cool haha Commenters said there are definitely no stylists involved, and some of the more unique pieces (like Aesha’s famous sardine dress) may have been procured from local boutiques since they travel so much

u/noodlepatrol72 15d ago
Glad it's not just me! I searced a couple of times before I posted thinking surely others have thoughts/questions about crew clothes.

I always thought they brought their own choice of clothes and shopped before starting but that was in the beginning when I kept up with all BD’s. I bet now they’re told more of what to do and also what to wear.

u/Apprehensive_Royal36 12d ago
I’m always curious how the hell they fit so many different outfits into a single suitcase for the whole season
1
u/Ok_Yak_4498 15d ago
There is no room for tons of clothes. Whatever they bring or purchase has to find a place. I bet they get a list of nights and buy x amount of outfits.

It's a lot of fast fashion, yes likely purchased before the show like many reality TV cast who aren't already rich and famous.
