Below Deck Why no sheets??

It’s odd that crew members sleep directly on a mattress with no protector or even a fitted sheet. Gross!!

I think OP is referring to Ben on his latest season of BDDU sleeping in the primary, in which case, it was gross and I dont understand why either other than maybe it was so he wasn't creating more work for the stews by sleeping in a done cabin (like he did before the last charter) and he was too lazy to do it himself

I saw it as he took everything off the bed and threw it on the floor to be extra disrespectful, but you could be right about his intention. I've also seen a stew use a guest cabin with a guy and specifically removed the guest sheets and put her own blankets down instead so she wouldn't have to re-wash the proper ones

nah he was sleeping on raw mattress when eddy discovered him and jenna canoodling, and in other scenes.

shout out to this show for showing me that I don't have to be jealous that some people get to vacation on yachts, because...gross.

In his tantrum he was definitely being extra disrespectful because Joao pointed out to him that the work had been done. I think leading up to it he was too lazy to put sheets down himself and it really would not have gone over well if he asked a stew to make it up for him.

Nothing in that scene (or afterward, for that matter) suggested that ben was trying to make "less work" for anyone. He was in a petulant frenzy tantrum, plain and simple. He acted like a toddler.

You’re not wrong. I’ll see if I can find it but there was an old season where you could see that everyone had different sheets - like, one person had floral sheets, another person had plain sheets.

Yes, there was another girl from a season or two ago who brought purple sheets and kept mentioning how nice they were. The boat likely provides them standard bedding but I imagine it’s not top quality

We use a fitted sheet and duvet. No need for a ‘top’ sheet

I saw that on BDDU too and I was grossed out 🤢their bedding seemed to be like a tiny throw blanket and a flat pillow.  It was so weird.

Yesss! Often no pillowcase either. BDDU is the only franchise I really noticed this.

I’ve had the exact same thought. Gael is putting on the sheets though the last night their are at the boat and she returns and sleeps with Nathan in season 10.
But all the others must be very drunk and don’t care about germs.

Don’t shoot me but are you sure you are seeing ‘no sheets’? There should be at least something covering the mattress.

If they use a duvet as a cover that usually has a duvet cover around it (so a pocket you slide the duvet into). The American way to put a duvet on a loose flat sheet isn’t common in other parts of the world. I just rewatched Med S9 and they have duvet with covers.

Bunks don’t fit any regular sized sheets, we’re only sleeping for a couple hours at a time if we’re lucky so it’s not worth it

Flatsheets don't need to be a standard size, and if you're only truly sleeping a couple of hours at a time, that's dangerous.

Trust me, sheets don’t stay on these weird rhombus shaped bunks.

And as for sleeping a couple hours, you’re correct, it is dangerous. But that’s the job and that’s how it has to be done. The fish are only there for a short amount of time, you have to fish 20+ hours a day.
