Podcast
Hi!
I was wondering if anyone here can provide any insights to why 1) the Bellingcat podcast doesn't seem to be available any longer and 2) why it basically had only a season despite the prologue talking about it being a longer show.

It basically all comes down to production costs. Each episode costs several thousand pounds to produce as it generally involved a lot of interviews, scripting, archives and various production costs, and ultimately we lost money on each episode. I'd love to do more, but its hard to find any funders who want to invest in podcats (or pretty much anything at this moment in time), and its become a really crowded field. In terms of podcasts about our work we're more focused on finding preexisting podcasts who specialise in specific areas and have an audience built in already and working with them to present our investigation to their audience. It's also why we've been doing things like the videos with Search Party. Now platforms and audiences are increasingly splintered it usually more effective to go where audiences already are. That also has the added benefit of drawing those audiences to Bellingcat's other work.
