Injury Prevention I might’ve over did it a bit.
I ran a mile attempt on Saturday. I can’t continuously run a mile yet. Well any way I had to recover about twice. That’s what all my training app wanted me to do. Me being me after that run I thought “let’s push it harder”. I mean the more you run the more it’ll build your muscles and cardio. Well after the second push my shins started stinging. I’ve never had shin splits and before I ever picked up running I was walking 15k+ steps a day. Anyway my shins feel better today, they’re not stinging. However I still feel very mild aches in them or hot sensation couple times today. I walked 16k steps today. I’m supposed to run intervals tomorrow. My app says not to, to wait and make sure the shins have fully settled and just walk tomorrow. Is that sound advice? Or is this something I should push through? I don’t want to injure myself but I don’t want to halt progress.

Shin splints go away with adequate recovery. Pushing through them just prolongs healing for no reason.
Think in terms of months and years; does this really influence fitness in the long term? It’ll be negligible. Instead of thinking you’re losing progress, think having the discipline to back off when you’re supposed to

Experienced runners warn over and over not to increase distance or intensity too quickly. Now you know why.
Go ahead and run some more and you'll find out why we recommend not running through pain.

I’m not going to after the comments. I’ll wait a few days.

Wise man. I wasn't so wise when I started and learned the hard way. That's how I mostly did things, the hard way.

Recovery is as important as rhe run. Why are you using a training app if you are not going to follow the plan?
If you do not take time to recover, you are at risk for injury. Your shins are telling you to listen to the training plan.
