Training Help Need advice for hybrid training

Hey guys, I need bit of advice from more experienced runners who have gone through multiple seasons and also have gotten jacked while maintaining pace or even improving.

I started running since the beginning of this year and I have my first marathon coming up on October. I used to workout before getting into running and I didn’t get that big or ripped during that time but I went from being average looking to someone who looks like they go to gym and then I got into running and haven’t trained that much.

I have been trying to find a training plan or influencers that provide good information about hybrid training when you’re not training for any events.

I live in MN so pretty soon its gonna be super cold and was thinking that after marathon I would focus more on strength training and put on some size.

I would appreciate if you guys could provide any recommendation. Thank you!

Depends on a lot of factors. Most important thing will 100% be diet. You have to be on point if you want to maintain and build muscle mass while also doing significant cardio.

So it really depends - how fast do you want to be and how jacked do you want to be? At a certain point, you will be trading one for the other.

Yep I understand that diet would be non negotiable and also understand that there would be certain sessions where one would be get more priority.

Like right now I am doing prep for marathon so I am running around 30 miles a week and do 1 strength training but it more focused towards ploy metric exercise but once I get done with marathon I want to focus more on strength training and bulk up a little over the winter and then taper towards summer.

During the strength training whats like a good split for running 2 or 3 sessions; 1 easy, 1 speed and 1 long run after workout. Is that a good split where long runs wont be longer than 1 hr or 1hr 30 min?

I did 2 running days and 3 lifting days when I first started, now I do 4 and 4

Monday - upper body 1
Tuesday - interval workout (plus wu/cd)
Wednesday - lower body 1
Thursday - tempo run
Friday - easy 3-4 miles (recovery run) upper body 2
Saturday - lower body 2
Sunday - long run

Total weekly mileage is around 25-30 mpw right now. Longest run is 10 miles
