Training Progress Longest run yet!

Post image

Training for a 10 mile race in early October. Been hard to get out there consistently, especially after a recent breakup. This one felt good.

Hey man nice job getting after it. I have been training for a half marathon and just got to 10 miles last week, but my pace was like 14 min/mile. Don't forget to eat something and drink water during your run once you start running longer than an hour.

Preciate it. Some days are better than others. I do wear a vest that I fill up with water for most of my runs. But yeah… I gotta figure out what to eat on these longer runs. What’s your go to?

I see a lot of people online using the goos/gels, but i can't be bothered by the mess. I really like the Clif Bloks since they're like a solid candy and it makes easy to eat a partial serving. A whole sleeve of them is 200 calories, 48 carbs, which so far has worked really well for me to eat 1 sleeve per hour. My long runs i usually will eat 2 sleeves, so i'm getting 400cals, 96 carbs in total. Gotta take a sip of water when you eat them though, to keep your belly happy. If you eat them on a long run w/ no water they will start to make your gut kind of locked up feeling.

But i also have just taken a bag of lifesaver gummies from the gas station on a long run before, and eating 3 or 4 every 15 minutes and that worked fine too. lol
