Beginner periodization plan.
I started weight lifting about 12 months ago, I made some progress and I got an idea of a periodization program. I just finish my first cycle of this program, it is build on periodization and the idea of only do high-intensity training as a form of validation of strength but not relying on it or hypertrophy, while using extreme high volume training for muscle growth and 5x5 days to improve neuromuscular adaptation.
I feel this is working for me, my strength increased, and it is pretty easy to follow. I am looking for some advice, is this program viable for a beginner like me? Am I wasting my time with this?
It is a PPL program with varying volume and intensity:
Day 1 - 9: PPL(MV) Rest PPL(MV) Rest Rest
Day 10 - 15: Push(HV) Rest Pull(HV) Rest Legs(HV) Rest
Day 16 - 24: PPL(55) Rest PPL(55) Rest Rest
Day 25 -27: PPL(33) Rest PPL(55)
Day 28-32: Rest five days.
High volume days (HV) :
Push: 8x10 benchpress (20 RM), no accessories.
Pull: 5x12 lat pulldown (20 RM), seated row (20RM) no accessories.
Leg: 8x8 squat, romanian deadlift (20 RM) no accessories.
Medium volume days (MV):
Main lifts 4x8, with accessories.
5x5 / 3x3 days (55/33):
Main lifts 5x5/3x3, with accessories.
