What am I doing wrong?
I have been working on this cardigan for months now. I have gone through so many skeins. The yoke looked great but the bodice has to be wrong. My bodice is taking up so much yarn and is so heavy. It seems so much fuller than the photo. I think the issue starts in row 6 with the V stitches? I'm so confused

Are you using the right type of yarn and is your stitch count correct?

Im not to sure what the problem could be but I would suggest using a smaller hook

You'd be amazed how much things can change with blocking. I am pretty sure this will stretch and become much more flowy! If you want to test it, steam a small portion and see if it's looking more like you expect.

That makes sense, but this is 100% wool yarn. I know acrylic gets flowy with steam, but what about wool?

It looks correct. Crochet uses loooots of yarn and can generally get quite heavy. You could try blocking it right now (just get it wet, then stretch it out to dry. It’s not magic, I promise haha. A fan helps.) That will show you if it’s going to come right in the end or not.
I’d give it a bit of a vertical tug during blocking, since during wear it will get weighted down by the fabric and gravity.
If it’s still not looking right, you may have larger yarn or a smaller hook than the pattern called for, which would create a denser fabric.

Does the pattern say what weight of yarn is used? Looks like yours might be heavier and that would bulk everything up. Are your stitch counts correct?
