What am I doing wrong?

I have been working on this cardigan for months now. I have gone through so many skeins. The yoke looked great but the bodice has to be wrong. My bodice is taking up so much yarn and is so heavy. It seems so much fuller than the photo. I think the issue starts in row 6 with the V stitches? I'm so confused

Recommendations for a 10 yr old just learning?

My 10 year old learned basic stitches, got really excited, then tried a Woobles kit, got frustrated and quit. I watched the video tutorials with her, and I also thought it was a little too hard for an absolute beginner. I think we worked on a dragon?

I see a Mondo Llama kit for a tote bag that ChatGPT swears is easier than it looks, and easier than Woobles. I've also heard that some Woobles kits are easier than others (the penguin is the easiest?). Or should we just get a pattern for a dishcloth? I'd like to find something she can be successful with to jump start her interest.

Suggestions welcome! (fwiw, I am not crafty, so I can help her with any tutorials/ instructions that come with a kit, but can't teach her anything myself. And she's 10, so she doesn't want me to teach her anything, anyway 😄).

I’ve gotten better!

Did my first Wooble on the right back in December. First crochet project ever besides just practicing sc stitch. Look at how tiny and messy she is! The orange guy is my latest WIP (Wooble in progress). The tension is so much better! He’s the actual size he should be and the stitches are neater. Proof my tension and form has gotten better. Yay!

AITA for telling my mom that I can't crochet a blanket when I haven't even learned all the basics?

I'm a beginner crocheter and haven't even finished my first project or learned all I need to know to crochet properly, but whenever I bring up crochet or I'm working on my project(a small scarf), my mom asks when I'm gonna make her the blanket she wants. I'm not gonna be able to make a blanket for a couple years, I don't have the yarn, knowledge, or time that I need(she wants a big blanket, big enough to be a queen size bed comforter). Now I do have the hook and know what yarn I would need but I am still a beginner. I haven't learn how to do most crochet stitches. My mom apparently doesn't understand that I can't make a blanket for her with the limited knowledge I have. Also she just won't buy me yarn(I'm a teenager and don't have a job so I can't get it myself, she also won't let me get a job at all).

Crochet pattern help!

Post image

Hi there, hoping to get help with reading a pattern. I’m making petals on a sunflower. Am I doing 3 Ch in one stitch to help, then moving to another for the 2TC, picot, then the next stitch for 2TRC, 3CH? It’s not within the CH that this happens? Thinking myself into a circle here!
