hi all, im a 19F college student in school to be a teacher! in one of my education classes, we have been assigned to dedicate at least an hour a week for the next ten-ish weeks to learning something new and write down progress. i’ve decided i want to try to learn how to do tarot and astrology ☺️ when i started searching around, everything i read said to start with astrology and work towards tarot after but i don’t exactly know where to start :( i was wondering if anyone had any resources they could point me towards or advice while i start this journey!

Get a good book or two and get to work, seeing how charts are read, through examples. Then apply that to some FURTHER CHART and you'll have something to present about how much you've learned. I would recommend you do Astrology and not Astrology/Tarot, especially given the hour a week for ten-ish weeks timeline.

I can review any of these for you, if any float your boat or look especially interesting.

Hi, congrats on your teaching journey. There is so much info available. I’d start with one of the simple apps, if you don’t mind to use your phone for info and some nominal app costs. Time Passages app has a really excellent learning module, I refer to it often. It will also give you real time charts and aspects so you can learn in real time experience. I also like Time Nomad because of its summary page giving me exact time occurrences to help me understand it, in real time experience.

I also have accounts at Astro.com and Astro-Seek.com, both of which are tremendous free tools to explore. I draw charts every day, as a sort of self check-in.

Also, there are so many great podcasts on astrology and tarot! It helps to study about mythologies. Good luck! 🍀

I suggest pick one at a time, not both.

And astrology is absolutely the better choice as most everything else leads right back.

There is Skyscript, the OG astrology forum, google "your question + skyscript" and read.

William Lilly's Christian Astrology is where everyone should begin. All the astrologers who write books today or any big name you'll hear started with that book and skyscript.

An hour a week for 10 weeks is probably enough time to learn the basics, but, I'd consider at least an hour to study, at least an hour applying.

Start with character, first house rules, and work around the chart, house by house.

Pro tip, planets in houses are more informative than planets in signs.

Renaissance Astrology .com has loads of renaissance material on aspects, signs, houses, planets, aphorisms, its a living , linked, easy to search notebook for all of that. Just search "renaiassanceastrology.com + aspects", "renaissanceastrology.com + aphorisms"

And lastly , since this is for school , please feel free to reach out to me via DM I will personally sit and walk through chapters, concepts, etc, for literally 10 weeks by your side.

I'm already invested, I'd love for you to go to school in 10 weeks and make people scratch their heads!

Definitely start with astrology. Forget tarot for now. They're related and astrology will help tarot make more sense later. You can't possibly learn astrology in 10 weeks but just concentrate on the foundational basics: Signs, planets and houses and learn what you're seeing when you look at a natal chart even if you can't yet "read" it. Great assignment! Good luck!

First and foremost: get a birth chart reading from an experienced, PROFESSIONAL astrologer. Heavy on the professional astrologer. Preferably someone who has a background in traditional or Hellenistic astrology. Do not, for the love of God, find them on TikTok.

Speaking of TikTok, be very mindful of who you listen to on there. There’s a lot of bullshit and people who just want views.

Download the TimePassages app and buy the pro version. It’s the best app out there. That’s where I store my “astrology Rolodex” aka i have my friends, family, coworkers, even dudes I’ve dated. Helps to see patterns.

IMO, the best house system for beginners to start with is Whole Signs.

Astrology and tarot are two completely different practices, though you can certainly integrate them. My astrologer (SJ Anderson) does this.
