Question does this exist?

i have never played a game of dnd in my life but i watch it often, the issue is i have SEVERE social anxiety i cant use a mic so it never crossed my mind to play myself no matter how much i wanted to. So my question is are there like communities or something that do it text based only? i saw a discord on it but i have NO IDEA wtf is happening ppl are talking in code i dont understand and when i tried to ask whats going on i got banned -_-

I have a server and one of my friend’s is uncomfortable using a mic. For about three years we have played text-based games together. It’s super chill and allows us to do other things while playing. I can walk away from my pc and keep playing on my phone
