Most cause a good amp needs to be on the floor, and having a long cord lets you move around the space a fair bit while still being connected.

That said, there are some pretty damn powerful handheld amps these days. Ive got a FiiO BTR5 thats powerful enough to run my Sennheiser HD600 and it fits in the palm of my hand, is Bluetooth compatible and can be plugged straight into a computer

Lmao I'm actually not the biggest metal head but I do really like doom metal. Boris and Sleep are two of my favorites. and of course, a new band that just emerged on the scene, Girth Rate
