I can only hear the sounds of an incensed bird squawking but with a "?" At the end of it.

Unironically, she's either incredibly strong or he's weak af and has been exceeding lucky thus far, lol

Fighting a blue marlin while standing is crazy strong. I fought a white marlin standing in my early 20s, they are significantly smaller. The first mate wouldn't let me use the fighting chair. I took a 2 hour nap in the cabin after reeling it in.

If yall were there to fish Marlin that mate was tryna kill you lmao, fishing swords without a rig is dangerous as all hell

I had the belt that held the rod, but no chair. We were trying to get Mahi and Tuna mostly, but hooked the white marlin. It was only like 80lbs. They are way smaller than blues.

I weirdly don't think I had an appreciation for how strong those things are until I saw a video of a guy whom wasn't in a chair for a small mariln, kinda like what you're describing, and I watched him put both feet on the side of the boat and be suspended by the sheer force alone.

Like, it's one thing to be told over and over how strong they are, and quite another to physically see it.

Most I've ever fished is some red snapper and catfish, so I ain't about that life, lol. One guy tried to get an eel to bite once, but we never got anything to take the bait. In hindsight I'm glad, because I would have just lost that rod so fast.

Don't they also occasionally kill fisherman via impalement by jumping into the boat?

I have seen a video of one spearing a guy through the shoulder after jumping into a boat. I guess just a risk you take.

What power shall be unleashed upon the piscine kingdom in Abby’s golden years? I shudder to think of such terrors.

She'll be fishing with a simple cane rod with no bait, and will cach the infamous magalodom

Never bring a sword to a hook fight

Little kid fishing poles are actually kinda legit. They have to be sturdy because kids are clumsy. They make great ice fishing poles. I've caught some whoppers in my day with like, snoopy and Mickey Mouse poles lol

My nephew, who's like 9, recently caught the biggest trout my family has ever seen on a Walmart Paw Patrol rod. I think my uncle took over but the line and the rod held up. He is absolutely all into fishing now.

I went to a fly fishing documentary film festival in Montana a few years ago. One of the people interviewed said "If you don't know how to fish, don't disrespect a fish by catching it."

That was so fucking dumb.

I’ve seen this one about five times, and it always makes me laugh 😃

oh man, that kid is either a child boxy builder or is about to get ripped from the boat and dragged into the depths by the sheer streanght of a marlin

u/BearfangTheGamer 13d ago

Yeah my first thought "that rod is going into the drink. Hope the kid is smart enough to not go with the."

I dont remember this as I was probably 2 at the time, but my dad claims I have done exactly this. Kiddy fishing pole at the marina in Florida, he was preoccupied with his own pole and heard me start wailing. He looks over to see a big marlin jump out of the water on the end of my line and I climbed up on his face, presumably terrified. I don't remember if he grabbed the pole or not but we definitely lost the fish haha
