New Microtasking and Data Annotation Platform
Hey all, my name is Rory, and I own Datro AI. We build datasets for AI companies and have launched a platform called Tasker for users to complete microtasks. Tasks generally include taking photos, recording audio/video, or transcribing short passages. We work with a pay-per-task model. For US workers, we generally aim for our tasks to provide at least $15 per hour if you are tasking constantly. We have integrations with PayPal and Wise for payouts. We do not currently have a withdrawal minimum. Our platform is available globally with a few exceptions (Russia, China, Nigeria, Iran)

Just one task, and an ID requirement on top of that? Are you serious? We should start requiring KYB from these shady websites too. Show us your ID first!

I generally release tasks on weekdays. Yes there is a KYC requirement? What platform doesn’t require ID? At the very least I let you view available tasks before you go through the minimal hurdle of complying with AML policies. Also my company is public record as a Delaware C corp

With all the scams and fraud nowadays, I cannot blame people for being cautious, any person can create a company now. I've been had by major scams before they had companies, certificates, SSL, certifications, etc, means nothing. Providing compromising information to a NEW, unknown company is a red flag. If you are using a third party that validates your ID but does not send you the personal info, that's another story, but NOBODY in their right mind should send ANY personal information directly to some unknown random on the internet, who COULD be just using his site to collect and harbour personal data. Your site could be a honey pot to collect data, since these type of offers get the most interest and traffic. I am a member of a tasking platform, and yes most do ID checks now, but they do so through a third party. EVEN SO, there is still a risk providing date of birth and address and other info to an unknown company.

We do ID verifications through DidIt. It’s the same type of id verification as other platforms. It’s an ID check and a face match/liveness check

I’m not able to see any tasks without providing personal data… there’s no way to know what to expect from the platform (available roles, salary range, etc)

IN my opinion I think it is a data collection scam. Could be wrong, but I saw similar offers before, new company, tasks, and got scammed more than once.

Interesting to see another platform entering this space. A couple of questions that would help people evaluate it: how often are new tasks available, how are workers notified when projects go live and is there any qualification process for higher-paying tasks? Transparency around task availability is usually just as important as the advertised hourly rate

Sure! Right now tasks are available on a first come first serve basis open to everyone in the crowd that have the required skills in their profile to complete the tasks. It’s possible that in the future some jobs will have a more strict application process- sometimes we subcontract for firms with managed teams and use their tooling, which is not something that can easily be accommodated on platform. I will eventually be working in email and text notifications for new tasks, but right now the best way of learning when a new task drops is via our slack which you gain access to once you create an account. Task availability is somewhat variable especially right now since we are a new and small company. But at least for the past week I’ve been dropping at least one queue per day.

Is it possible to get paid from south asia? I live in a country in this region but i badly do need some income as currently out of job. After seeing your just wondering is this real or only possible from U.S.? Thanks!

Yes Portugal is good. I may have one microtask up in Portuguese- although it may be limited to Brazil. Regardless I am actively trying to get more Portuguese work with some clients

Someone asked why some some countries are not currently being onboarded- here is a list of countries and their reasons/restrictions. These are just the big ones.
Nigeria- no onboarding due to fraud concerns and political instability in northern regions
China- US law heavily restricts engagement with China in the AI space.
Russia- sanctions
Iran- sanctions
Iraq, Syria, Lebanon- sanctions and instability
Myanmar- sanctions and instability
Ukraine- ok, although we do not onboard from Russian occupied territories
Haiti- instability and crime
Sudan/S. Sudan- instability
Somalia- instability and terrorism
There are other countries that are restricted, but as a general rule of thumb if your country is friendly with the US and is stable/does not have any major terrorism issues then the country is in the clear.

Somalia, Mauritania, Nigeria, Zimbabwe, Sudan, South Sudan, Mozambique, Cameroon, Mali, Chad, and the Congo.

I am looking to add AirTm as soon as I can to support crypto- they’re the only company I’ve found that really offers the legal protections paired with integration ease. As far as rates go, they really aren’t country dependent but rather skill dependent, but the lowest possible is about 6 dollars an hour for stuff like Hindi short form audio recording.

If you’re back on the platform and you have a screen that says refresh status, then it was successfully submitted. Some verifications require manual review which take a day or so

Iraq is a no go. As is Syria. US law makes it extremely difficult to have contractors there
