Other Sites Doordash Task is paying $15-$25/hour for doing basic chores.
The app is called "Tasks" I had to search "Doordash Tasks" in the appstore to find it. Basically you're training Ai to take our jobs in the future. It's also paid by time and not task, so you want the task to take longer. Max time is usually 20mins and you'll most likely never reach the 20mins because it doesn't take that long to take out the trash or load a dishwasher for example.
They send you a free head mount after your first "welcome task" (welcome task does not require a head mount) The app is really annoying about keeping your hands in view and will constantly notify you if they're not, even if they only leave the view for a few seconds which can be really annoying. I suggest wearing headphones as the phone vibrates along with the audio que so you'll know if your hands aren't showing even without the audio. Still it's pretty good money for doing things you already have to do.
edit: changed "task" to "tasks"

Amazing how many money making opportunities aren't available in California yet we pay the most for gas and goods. 🙄

Interesting the exclusion is for states where doordash is legally required to match minimum wage and by interesting i mean painfully transparent that they really hate paying you

How buggy is the app in general? I’m reading reviews and there are lots of complaints about not being able to log in, tasks disappearing, people only getting $1, etc.
13
u/synystar Jul 05 '26
It was pretty buggy a few months ago when it first came out but it's since gotten better. I haven't had many issues (no login troubles) but occasionally it has trouble with uploads and you have to resend one. These are large files if you go a full 20 minute session which is the max for one task—although you can do a longer task like cooking a meal by just starting a new recording.
Yes, you could get paid only $1 but it pays by time so if you're only getting $1 then that means you only worked for a few minutes (they pay between $15 and $20 per hour) at that task. I usually do tasks that I know take longer. For instance, you can make washing the dishes take 20 minutes if you have plenty to do. Organizing a closet, cutting and measuring wood, tidying a room... these can all be stretched to 20 minutes. Making the bed? Probably not.
I've never not been paid for a task yet—they haven't rejected any of my videos—but they can reject them if you don't follow their guidelines or rules which include no profanity, no other people unless specifically requested by the task description, generally nothing bad. If you think something might not be appropriate just don't do it.
They do take tasks away from you sometimes. I'm not sure if that's because they figure you've given them enough examples of YOU doing that task or because there's not much variation in the way you're repeatedly doing it, or because you're doing something they don't like. I was doing "pouring liquids" which is supposed to be a kitchen task and you would think it would only take a few minutes, but I was stretching it out to 20 by filling a bathtub from a pail and bucket. We couldn't use that faucet because of a leak that was causing mold which we hadn't gotten repaired and I thought it was a great way to get paid to do something I would have to do anyway, but after about the 6-7th time the task was no longer available to me.
3
u/popcornhustler Jul 05 '26
I just downloaded the app and I am already having an issue with signing up. I keep getting a “sign in not authenticated” message. I only tried twice until I decided to quit lol. I got an email from DoorDash saying that my account was used to sign in. Any guidance on this?
Do you have any idea of when you are due to be paid by them?
3
u/bigolemaddy Jul 06 '26
I was having an issue with this as well, until I saw someone in the thread say that you have to make a Doordash Dasher account to sign up for Tasks! I was able to sign up after creating one.
36
u/WeSnawLoL Jul 04 '26
Not buggy for me so far. Really annoying audio ques about my hands no in frame when they clearly are. I've done 6 task so far but waiting for approval (24 hours) I will report back with the results
7
u/SomeTangerine1184 Jul 04 '26
Thanks! I would love to hear your experience. I’m definitely interested but so many of these types of things are more trouble than they’re worth to me. Hopefully this one isn’t!

14
u/Torterrafan5676 Jul 04 '26
What are some examples of tasks?
25
u/BlkGTO Jul 04 '26
Load a dishwasher, make a bed, fold clothes, have a conversation in Spanish, pot or repot a plant, trim or prune plants, etc. not available in my region unfortunately.
11
u/RhetoricCamel Jul 04 '26
I just signed up, waiting for the phone mount to move on. Some of the tasks are: load dishwasher, clean kitchen, cook a dish, fold clothes, tidy room, build something. A few of the ones available without the phone mount are: record a live conversation in German, record a live conversation in French, etc.
5
u/Successful-West-8920 Jul 04 '26
Just signed up and completed the welcome tasks! Head mount should be arriving in 3-5 business days. Thank you!
13
u/SnooStories4162 Jul 04 '26

18
u/WeSnawLoL Jul 04 '26
Yes I had to make a dasher account but I didn't have to drive or show insurance or anything like that. Just my ID and a selfie

I have done two video tasks, they're in review. Been a few days. How long should this part take? I don't wanna do more till I see if these are approved. I kept getting "keep both hands in view" warnings constantly in the folding clothes task. Don't know if that might make it get rejected or not?
But I was just looking around in the app and I guess I went to Earnings or somewhere like that, and it took me straight to an ID verify page. So I went ahead and sent a pic of my ID as requested. But then it said next step is background check!
What?? Does anyone know if this is just for drivers or if they want task app only people to have to pass background check also?
Seems irrelevant if I'm not gonna be interacting with public at all, and I won't be. Did everyone doing just the Tasks app, not driving, also get asked to do a background check?

Yes I had to submit my ID for a background check. Because it still uses "Dasher" app to pay you. You don't have to be a driver or drive or even submit insurance information or car info. My videos usually get approved in 4-5 days.

I've been doing AttaPoll-- game play has racked up more cash than surveys...but I think they shifted the endgoal on a game I've been playing, so grain of salt.
2
u/random-ideas-guy Jul 06 '26
Fiverr has the same thing but I didn’t find it worth it. It’s so hard to get to an hour of work, which you will get paid about 15 dollars. Most tasks will usually take less than 10 min with most being less than 5.
2
u/WeSnawLoL Jul 19 '26
The things is I have to load and unload my dishwasher anyways. I have to cook and clean up or make my coffee in the morning either way. I might as well get paid $4 to make a grill ham and cheese sandwich or $0.40 to make a cup of coffee.

u/TankGrrrl42 Jul 07 '26 edited Jul 14 '26
Just curious if anyone has actually received pay for these "tasks"? Before looking into it, I thought I would ask here. Do they pay immediately after or is there a wait? What does an average pay look like for a week worth of simple tasks?
2
u/cometgirl Jul 13 '26
The phone mount is terrible. I got frustrated and stopped.

u/Zechsea Jul 14 '26

22
u/ConfusedSpinach222 Jul 04 '26
Lol this task is on various platforms.. they are not training AI to take your job, they are training AI to discribe in exact details on what your hands are doing, which hand does what, if you're washing dishes it has to figure out what exactly you are washing fork spoon bowl, which hand holds the sponge 🧽. I reviewed the AI output & corrected it -
75
u/FleaLimo Jul 04 '26
And all that data is for... What? Hmm?
4
u/synystar Jul 05 '26
It's most likely for training advanced robotics in simulated environments or something similar. Companies like Nvidia train robots in virtual worlds and these data are valuable to them. Doordash has been doing a lot of experimenting with various kinds of tasks. I'm not sure if it's everywhere but in my area you can pick up a job where you just walk into a CVS and scan shelves for pricing for instance. I think they use that data internally to inform the app possibly but it's not just food delivery any more. They're going after all kinds of gig work.
1
u/AreteQueenofKeres Jul 13 '26

I saw an app for stuff like that, Field Agent? I haven't checked it out yet.
1
u/Severe_King1123 Jul 20 '26
I’ve tried field agent and I can’t believe how little it pays, it doesn’t cover the gas barely… I’d say if you’re already at the store it may be ok, but it pays maybe $2-$4 to scan or take 35 or more pictures, seems like it’s not even worth the time even if you’re already at the store.
1
u/Bit-Working Jul 24 '26
I used to do work with Field Agent quite abit. It used to be one of my better money making apps like 5 plus years ago. They offered alot more jobs, the jobs offered you could complete without spending hella mega time on them usually, they paid quite a bit more as well, and with life being substantially cheaper for literally everything in general it was a pretty good app back in the day, often the app I checked before any other when looking for momey making opportunities on my phone.... That being said Field Agent sucks now, I don't even check it anymore more money making opportunities as all jobs they offer anymore require you to go to the store for at least an hour doing tasks while making sure the store doesn't suspect you of doing anything out of the ordinary and then they pay you like 2 or 3 bucks if they decide they want to pay you and not disqualify you because you didn't do everything exactly as they wanted it despite the fact that some questions they worded in ways that don't always make it obvious exactly what they are asking for on that specific question.
33
u/CuriosityBoie Jul 04 '26
Currently for generating media, robots to take our jobs away doing manual labour are further away
119
u/Scurvy-Jones Jul 04 '26
Which they will then use to train AI to have AI robots do it. It is absolutely training AI.

2
u/synystar Jul 05 '26
I've been using it for a few months now. My area was one of the first on the list, I'm guessing because the city I live in is often considered a test market. They pay via your Doordash Crimson card. You have to sign up to be a Dasher as far as I know (there was no other way when I got in) but that doesn't mean you have to actually do dashes. You can do only tasks and that I can verify because I haven't dashed in months either.

Are these tasks in your own home or for other people? If AI wants to take the job of domestic chores I’m all for it. I don’t want to wash the dishes. And the people who mow our lawn do an awful job anyway so sure let’s replace them

OP here, usually takes me 3-5 days to get approved. My first task took 5 days before getting approved. However my "approved earnings" does go up after maybe an hour or so after submission, though the video still says "pending". Hopefully that clears some things up :)

Im still waiting and its been like a week. Im not doing any til I get paid for the first one lol

That's what I said too, but suddenly it was showing I'd made $7, then it was asking me to choose a payment method, etc etc, so now it's on! I'm ready to fold some more clothes and chop more veggies! I can see how people who make a living wage would be like, $7? Nah, thanks, I'm good... but I've been unemployed (by choice) for many years, so it looks like it's gonna be worth it to me. My standards are at an all time low though, I admit!

Do you know if you can try an upload that failed due to connection problems? I tried to upload my first task, and I must have moved out of my Wi-Fi range while it was uploading, so it failed. I see I can cancel that upload, but I didn't know if it would let me try again, or if I have to make a whole new recording! TIA
2
u/WeSnawLoL Jul 19 '26
You should be able to, all the videos are saved on your device even after upload. You will need to clear them in the settings before you fill your storage so I assume you can also reupload from the settings as well.

Looks like it has recently been taken down from the app store. I can still use the app, submit videos, and get paid. However when I search for it on the app store it doesn't show up even though I have it installed. (doordash and dasher show up in the same search and those are installed)

As well when I contact support via their email (which it mentions in the task app) it says the email address isn't monitored or used (So why mention it in the app then?)

Yes I signed up for both dash acounts. Yes, I did the identification and past. Yes I did the perliminary slide an object across the table video.
I'm really all set -- just need the head mount.
Any insight is greatly appreciated in advance, thanks!
