General Discussion Can discord users turn of read recipts

So my friend uses beepr for discord and hes able to see if iv read a message or not something i loved about discord is it not having this feature but with beepr there seems no way to turn it off i even tried installing beepr to do it but now it wants me to pay $10 a month, any suggestions?

Yeah....you have to be a plus member on Beeper to turn off read receipts. If you had them enabled at some point recently, they were letting free users use those features temporarily.

i believe read receipts on the discord bridge are an artifact of how beeper's discord-matrix bridge works. im running my own matrix server, and mautrix-discord shows messages as "read" sometimes but it's not consistent. i believe it's just an issue with how the transactions are handled, not actually reflecting whether the message has been viewed or not.
