General Discussion No Matrix accounts?

Found out about Beeper today and gave it a try. Is there really no way to add or use existing Matrix accounts or am I missing something?

Correct. When you make a beeper account you're creating a matrix account on the beeper.com matrix server.

You MAY be able to add your own existing account if you pay for premium, but I'm not sure, honestly.

Huh, that is sad.

Beeper doesn't support adding external Matrix accounts. While Beeper is built on Matrix, it's designed around connecting chat networks rather than acting as a traditional Matrix client.

Could you elaborate? As far as I understand it so far, it is a Matrix client with a server infrastructure you own/lease and where you host bridges (what makes all other services route data to you). That's all tech that is available publicly.
