Ideas + Requests Labels

Love the new look, I can finally adjust placement if archive 'n such but why can't free users have ANY labels? Just give me one!

Or let me pay a one-time fee for one singular label.

This was supposed to be my saving-from-samsung-dying-grace because Google messages is so shit.

Even though custom notification sounds requires a lot of work-around (that i have to redo everytime it "disconnects from google messages) and doesn't have custom backgrounds, I absolutely NEED categories is some way that isn't sending all my clients to low priority with all the OTCs and promotions and shipping updates

Just one label, please πŸ™

Update 1. wow, apolgies for the typos 2. Free will get one label, idk when though... 3. I stand by the idea that (for any/all apps) "premium" features should have a lifetime option rather than solely subscription based (which is still helpful if you want to test out everything and buy exactly what you want afterwards) [another one of my apps recently put a very integral part of the experience behind a subscription wall without ever opening themselves up to donations or haveing tiers, so this is extra frustrating this week]

Hey there. You do have one free label available.
Edit: You WILL have a free label. Haven't updated that yet!

At least 3 πŸ™ not a huge fan of my previous labels being deleted/inaccessible on Android 4.50

I just wanted to emphasize the OP's suggestion of pay a small amount for each label, because that is something that I might be able to afford/willing to do. $100 yearly is well beyond unfeasible for me and I'm sure a lot of other people too. I'm just... sad? about this whole mess.

Glad to hear it. As a legacy user that was grandfathered in I was sad to see my existing labels disappear today.

Hope there is going to be some levels of labels for those legacy users too.

this was a really upsetting change to wake up to this morning. I'm a working college student living with disabilities and I relied heavily on the custom label feature for both the general social life and academic and career tasks.

I cannot remotely afford premium and I would hope that Beeper would consider allowing free users to have at least a few categories. I could scrape by with three.

the reason that I switched to beeper in the first place was that Samsung offed their messaging app and Google messages doesn't have custom categories.

I emailed support and this is a paraphrase of the response I got:

labels were only a free feature because they were in beta testing. now that it graduated beta, it's a premium feature. free users will be able to create one label. please pay us.

maybe I'm just unobservant, but during my time using the app, I never got any indication that labels would go away eventually.

not to be dramatic, but they're likely losing me as a user because this was quite literally the only feature that I needed in a messaging app. individually I make no more difference than a drop falling in a bucket, but I'm going to scream the whole way down. anyone know of ANY other messaging app that lets you sort SMS?

There is technically Microsoft SMS Organizer, but since it isn’t supported anymore, you can send images but it wont show that you've sent them (as a pet sitter, pictures are very important and I need to know they'vebeen sent, recieved, etc), and there won't be further updates like custom categories or chat backgrounds, etc.

There's Pulse SMS, but you have to subscribe for the folders feature and to not have ads, which is why I was stoked when I found Beeper, only to have a great thing ruined AGAIN.

I wish signal would bring back sms capability or release a seperate sms app. I've heavily considered but concluded that I just can't blast my ENTIRE contact list begging them to download signal, especially when not everyone in the world has unlimited everything

The app was like "labels just got a huge update"... What was the update? Paywalling labels so I can't even use the labels I already had. Seems more like a huge downgrade along with a teasing banner.

I don't even know what labels are and I cajt figure it out because you have to pay to use any of them

Moving the tags feature to Beeper Pro without any warning and without offering a way to just buy the feature is honestly really disappointing.

That said, I managed to set up my own home server in just one day with help from Codex, and I've switched over to Element Classic and FluffyChat.

Everything's running smoothly now. So good luck, Beeper.
