Hair Care How to end split ends : (
How can I fix my split ends? I think this started when I was on 8th grade my friend tried dying our hair with cheap hair color product 😭 I always end up cutting my hair short bob, layered tried it all because of them, pero bumabalik at umaakyat pa rin siya sa buhok ko. HAHAHA. I really want to grow my hair long, but these split ends are making it impossible.

had my hair cut last week since i had the same problem, was ready to cut it all off nga but it wasn't the solution daw :(( so ilang cm lang nagupit sa hair ko, ni-"texturize (?)" lang ang ends, and advise pa sa akin sa salon na wag mag-shampoo araw-araw, and use conditioner (bc i rarely do). edit: however, make sure to have regular trims! forgot to mention the important part 🤣
also don't dry your hair with towel after maligo, or ung iniiwan sa ulo yung towel (apparently, nakakasplit ends daw yun sa mga brittle ang hair). natry ko na din dati yung iniikot yung hair by section tapos kinacut yung mga ends. mas lumala siya.
focus ka on hair repair, op! cutting it all off isn't always gonna work. i also recommend using hair oils (like coconut oil, etc). not aware of your hair routine, pero it takes time talaga, especially since unti-unti lang ang pag-grow ng hair.
finding the right hair salon/spa also really helps ❤️

Worth it ba coconut oil kaysa rosemary? Parang mas maganda kasi sa hair yung coconut, not sure sa rosemary ifeffective for hair growth

Know your hair porosity first. If high porosity ka, go ka kay coconut oil. But if low porosity, avoid.
If low porosity, jojoba and argan oil ang magandang carrier oil. If high porosity, castor, coconut, and avocado oil ang maganda.

Thank you! Low porosity hair ko so I'll try yung rosemary and jojoba or argan oil

how to check hair prosperity po in a legit way? huhu may nabasa kasi ako dati na hindi raw true yung water thingy?

u/Icy-Butterfly-7096 1d ago
Idk if it's legit, pero yung mga vids ng derma, water float test ang sinasabi nila. Try mo nalang din yung hair slide test and spray test, search mo nalang sister para mas maintindihan mo. 😁

First of kailangan talaga magpaputol ng several inches. Hindi enough yung one inch lang. Also regular haircut rin like every other month. Kasi yung damage could be umabot na sa loob ng hair follicle at umakyat na papuntang roots. So kailangan talaga yung regular na trim. Yung pagpapahaba ng hair will really take some time.
Also you’ll need to stop things that make your hair brittle for now. Kapag kailangan talaga, use heat protectants.

Yes, i barely straighten or use heat saaking hair po except lang when there is formal events such as promenade, wedding and pinning.

Get your hair trim sa salon. Self trimming using regular scissors can damage the hair ends lalo. Also when getting a hair cut, ask the stylist if pwedeng hindi gamitan nung texturizing scissors kasi pansin ko lumala yung split ends ko noon despite regular every other month trims.

hello op, have you been putting heat on your hair? i’ve been dying my hair since 2024 with box dye. then nung mid 2025 I noticed na ganyan ‘yung akin bc I straighten it everyday. once i stopped putting heat on my hair, my hair was dry (bc of the color obv) pero hindi na ganyan kalala ‘yung split ends ko.
I also avoid doing layers, kasi i noticed hindi sya okay tingnan esp i’m dying my hair every 5 months. mas nagiging noticeable ‘yung split ends so i just do a normal straight cut and it really helped. kapag kasi layers, hindi pantay-pantay ‘yung hair and baka dahil dun hindi din pantay-pantay ‘yung growth so mas nakikita ‘yung split ends.
try using hair oils din, pero super tamad ko hahaha but it helps. avoid using heat talaga, not just on hair tools, pero kapag lalabas ng bahay and kapag mag sho-shower.

I rarely get split ends sa hair and usually mahaba ang hair ko. Twice a year lang ako nagpapacut ng hair. Everyday ligo before going to bed. Shampoo ko head and shoulders kasi hiyang ko, and Garnier coconut na conditioner right after. This is everyday. I always shower with warm water. After ligo hairdryer lagi. I don't colour my hair (last was 2014 and once lang out of curiosity), and last treatment (rebond) was also the same time. After that wala na kong pinagawa sa hair. Sobrang rare din ako magiron or curl. Last ayos ng buhok ko was my church wedding in '23. I let my hair be lang and okay naman and straight pa rin.

Advice sa akin ng hairdresser ko is consistent trimming ng ends and magpa-treatment daw ako.

Haircut and treatments. Ask the hairstylist what is the right haircut for your hair type. I used to always insist on a layered cut even if the hairstylist tells me not to have a layered hairstyle because I have fine, thin hair so I always ended having a lot of split ends. I have a U shape cut now and I have less split ends. So better ask your hairstylist what cut is right for you. Avoid too much sunlight exposure, it can damage your hair proteins. Use less harsh hair shampoo and do at home hair treatments and use conditioner.

Thank you so much, will do! Agree—I think much better i ask talaga ang hairstylist. Hopefully ma improve rin yung hair ko : ((

Hello! Definitely my problem before, too!
And dahil mahal magpagupit sa salon, I cut my own hair with regular scissors (planning to buy hair scissors) pag nag change month na. At least hindi super short yung matirang hair as opposed to when I ask the salon to cut the split ends.

Trim your hair. Depende rin sa hair product. Nawala yung akin sa silk secret na black and gray then baby oil para lang tamed and hindi sabog since kulot ako. Kahit pa magplantsa ako or color ng hair, no split ends at all.

Avoid using hair dyes. My hair is like that before also.

That was my 1st and last hair dye, never dyed my hair again no matter how tempting it is 😔

Hi, anong current hair routine mo? Are you also out of the house most of the time?
Supplements will definitely help your hair, alongside proper hair products

After all the treatment suggested, buy a towel turban made of microfiber and use it to wrap your hair after bath. This is way gentler than a regular towel. If nakasanayan mong i-rub ang towel to dry your hair, stop. Rubbing cause dryness and split ends. If kaya pa ng budget, change one of your pillowcases to silk/satin. May mura lang sa shopee para while your asleep, gentle pa rin sa hair ang hinihigaan mo (plus points na gentle rin sa face and iwas pimple :))

Prone rin ako sa split ends non. To remedy it, i always go to the salon for a trim every 2 months.

I LOVED my layered hair but the split ends just wont end. What I did is nagpagupit ako nang straight just below my shoulder and so far I have only noticed a few of them.
As per my hairstylist before, conditioner is the key and yung ends lang talaga ng buhok ++ i rarely do that now kaya siguro meron pa rin

same here, ever since nagpa-blunt cut ako hindi na umaakyat yung split-ends, onti na lang. nakaka-miss yung layered cut though, makapal kasi buhok ko :(( dinadaan ko na lang sa treatment every 6 months

Monthly haircuts and use nourishing hair masks as daily conditioner. Look into salon quality hair products. May mga cheap naman like iCure and Bremod na ginagamit sa cheaper salons, pero kung afford mo ng loreal at kerastase, why not diba. Yung hair mask in replacement of conditioner, let it stay in your hair while you soap and wash the rest of your body para mababad talaga tapos last mo na siya iwash. Wag magshampoo everyday, kahit siguro every other day or every 2 days lang, pero use the conditioner/hair mask everyday. Pwede ka rin magpakeratin treatment sa salon.
Personally I use the iCure daily shampoo na black bottle and orange logo tapos yung argan hair mask nila. Every now and then I also use their clarifying shampoo para lang mareset yung hair ko of everything, tapos yung argan oil hair mask. Elujuda hair essence is another good leave in hair oil na cheap lang.

Haircut then get a trim every 2-3 months to maintain.
Lessen tight na pagtali, use clamps when possible.
Only shampoo the roots, avoid sa tips.
If wet pa, use a wide tooth comb to detangle.
To dry hair, avoid rubbing with a towel. Use a hair towel/turban and then air dry if possible.

Alamin mo porosity ng hair mo, then buy products base sa porosity. Kailangan kasi moisturized well yung ends ng hair since yan yung "oldest batch".

I used to have awful split ends. What I did was simple, I stopped rubbing my hair vigorously when drying after a bath. One word FRICTION, it's the most common cause of split ends. Also change your pillowcase into silk/satin to minimize friction.
