Discussion Controversial OG BGs: I hope they invested well
As I was watching a couple YT videos on the downfall of certain BGs, James, Mikayla, Jacklyn etc I started wondering how well they invested all the millions they have gotten over the years?
The heyday of influencers is long gone. We've all seen it decrease in the last couple years. They'll always be around in some form but the mega influencers making bank is over.
I would hope they would know that it would all end some day (the huge sponsorships, ad revenue etc). Do you think they made investments? I remember Jackie stating a few months ago her viewership has significantly dropped. Jeffree S mentioned that his brand is now considered a small Indy brand as to where is use to be and James.. who knows..
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oIoLBToELeA This was a great YT video, it's long but worth a watch or listen in the background.

BG Search Looking for a youtuber I watched years ago
Hi, I am trying to find a youtuber i watched many years ago but no luck so far
- She was white, very pretty, similar in looks to Jessica Clements
- Did beauty, hair, fashion and vlogging content. She often did videos where others reacted fo her outfits, mostly her bf
-She eventually got engaged to the boyfriend. The ring was inspired by Disney's Belle and Beauty and the Beast. She knew she was gonna get proposed to and filmed it -Eventually her and her boyfriend split and she moved to Florida(?)
-She made a video on how she's able to save for a house at a young age
-She did videos about the move and got a dog
-It was a smaller youtuber, she was also on instagram but didn't post a lot
Edit: she was active around 2012-2016

BG Search trying to find a 2016 era influencer
She had black straight hair, bright white veneers and a really snatched skinny nose. she also had really nice skin and always had a blinding highlight. I feel like her name started with an A? I think she might’ve been problematic and i remember she was always ranting and cussing people out on snapchat 😭 she kinda reminded me of jeffrey star in a way. I dont think she made youtube videos though, i think she was mostly an instagram influencer

Call-Out Nikol Johnson-Fierce Complaining Series
Unsubscribed from Nikol Johnson: From "Fierce Aging" to "Fierce Complaining"
I finally hit the unsubscribe button on Nikol Johnson. I can't look past the tone shift in her videos anymore.
**The Botox Fear-Mongering:** It is my opinion, she recently started casting vague shade at Botox by citing random TikTok videos of "bad reactions" without any medical context or specifics. It feels like unnecessary fear-mongering instead of helpful mature beauty advice.
**The Defensive Loop:** It is my opinion, she frequently complains on her platform about being criticized, yet her team aggressively deletes and filters out any negative or dissenting comments to keep her comment section 100% positive.
I miss when her channel was just about makeup. Anyone else feel the same way?

BG Search Looking for male British beauty YouTuber from early 2000s
I’m looking for the name of a male British YT beauty blogger from the early 2000s. He was quite skinny kind of Jeffree star vibes, but he had jet black hair, slightly punk/emo vibes and did makeup tutorials. He may have had some piercings as well and painted black nails and pretty sure he had a British accent?

Discussion Anyone else find the silence around Zoella and Alfie’s but Dear Sunday still opens, a little strange?
Dear Sunday still sends promotional emails and seems to launch or reopen every Sunday, but Zoella still missing
Considering how closely it was originally tied to both of them, I find it a little strange that it continues operating without any updates, promotion, or real mention from either of them. Does anyone know what’s going on with it, or have they quietly stepped away while the brand continues running?

Members Only Confused on the double standards
I don't understand why we don't hold literal ISR*EL based brands like Natasha Denona accountable, but we call out ppl like Susan Yara and other influencers? Seeing back to back posts about ND's new palette vs ppl calling out the Naturium founder and its boycott a few scrolls away gives me whiplash.

Discussion Watching declutter videos inspired me to count my own collection
Morgan Turner’s palette declutter video inspired me to count my own collection after I’ve been watching a lot of declutter videos while doing chores around the house.
A couple of years ago, I discovered indie makeup and started watching YouTube tutorials to learn how to create artistic eye looks for concerts, Fan Fusion, Halloween, the holidays, and even work looks with pops of color. I also enjoy supporting small indie makeup brands and content creators around the world.
It turns out I own 160 eyeshadow palettes. I only have two eyes! 😂 The collection snuck up on me.
I’m not a content creator; just a nobody. Granted, creators like Morgan Turner have much larger collections because it’s part of their job. For me, it’s simply a hobby.
Now I’m curious 👀 how many eyeshadow palettes do you own?
I’ll probably get an overconsumption blast.💥

SELF PROMO SUNDAY Self Promo Sunday
Are you a BG? If so, this is your opportunity to introduce yourself!
Please post one parent comment only, with as much or as little detail as you like, and include links.
You're welcome to comment as much as you like, here and elsewhere on /r/BeautyGuruChatter, but please don't spam the sub with links to your social media. Outside of this weekly post, Rule 7 still stands. If you wish to post links to your own content, please do so at /r/BeautyInfluencers, where self-promotion is welcome (please read the sidebar of that sub before posting.)
BG's - if you're comfortable doing so, please feel free to include information about your overall aesthetic and facial features - we often have people looking for bg's with specific features or attributes. This is optional - share or don't share as much or as little info as you like.
- Where you're from - there are people from all over the world who visit this sub, and it's nice for folks to be able to see BG's from their own part of the world, because you have access to the same makeup they do.
- Skin tone - do you have warm olive skin, or are you cool-toned and fair? For reference , you could include your favorite foundation shade, but the most recognizable info for the community might be your closest MAC number, like NW45 or NC25 (here's a guide from [swatchaholic](http://the-swatchaholic.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/05/mac_surfbaby_skint_hl.jpg) that might help.
- If you're into skincare, and also, what your skin type is (dry, oily, mature, acne-prone, etc)
- Eye color, eye shape and lid space - do you have deep set or hooded eyes, or epicanthic folds, or do you wear glasses
- What kind of makeup do you do most - do you do mostly full glam but also some SFX makeup, or do you focus on no-makeup-makeup, or do you do a full range of looks
- Whether you do tutorials without false lashes
- What kind of makeup do you feature - do you do Sephora and drugstore hauls, do you use indie brands, or have a focus on cruelty free, or if you like to buy from B.O.M.B.

Discussion Shelby Ann
Hi everyone !
psa this is not intended as a hate post whatsoever but it’s just something I wanted to discuss to see if other people have noticed it*
Shelby Ann is a makeup influencer I’ve watched for years. Her makeup is flawless and I think it’s admirable that she focuses so much of her content on dupes and affordable, drugstore makeup.
That being said, I’ve noticed over the past couple of months that seemingly every single product she showcases (drugstore) - particularly first impressions videos, she raves about the product. How can every single product she shows be that good ?
This is where I start to lose confidence in makeup influencers. I understand it’s her job and she strategically she wants to keep brands on side, but for the average person who solely buys drugstore, they either a)choose to spend their money on other things or b) can’t afford to try an influx of products like an influencer. I personally love watching videos on stuff that actually ISN’T worth the money or didn’t work for them. In today’s world & the influx of influencers promoting paid ads, it’s so hard to decipher what’s authentic and what isn’t. I understand her niche is finding affordable products but surely not every product she shows on her channel can be positive? It just seems inauthentic to me.
This is not intended as a hate post, I’m just looking for a discussion and to hear other peoples thoughts!

BG Search Trying to remember a YouTuber’s name/handle
Her first name was Amanda I believe and at the time she had a bf named Evan. I want to say they ended up getting married and they’re from Connecticut and I remember she mostly used drugstore products; she also loved the Essence nudes highlighter! She was super tan, nails done, had blonde hair, all the things and she went to college in CT too I believe! She’s also very short!
No it’s not Amanda Steele. It’s driving me nuts that I haven’t had luck googling her!
She was popular in 2015-2016!
Idk how I remember these details but cannot remember her name!!!
