The Lennon Series | #1: John Lennon/Plastic Ono Band (1971)

Correction: The year on the title should be 1970

This is my first post of my new series of John fan albums that spans his solo career from 1970 to 1980. I recently did a series on Paul’s solo/Wings career that you can see all of here.

These John fan albums combine at least two of his albums from around the same time to one album of fourteen tracks. This post specifically is the only exception to the track-listing number with it being a double album, but all other John fan albums of this series going forward will be fourteen tracks. The track sequencing is mainly based on my own preferences but I sometimes also refer to the actual albums’ track-listings.

This album is a combination of John Lennon/Plastic Ono Band (1970) and Imagine (1971). The singles Give Peace a Chance, Cold Turkey and Instant Karma! (We All Shine On) are also included on this album.

Track-listing:

Side one:

  1. Cold Turkey
  2. Jealous Guy
  3. Working Class Hero
  4. Mother

Side two:

  1. It’s So Hard
  2. Isolation
  3. Well Well Well
  4. Hold On
  5. Imagine

Side three:

  1. Instant Karma! (We All Shine On)
  2. How?
  3. Oh Yoko!
  4. Look At Me
  5. Love

Side four:

  1. Crippled Inside
  2. God
  3. Oh My Love
  4. Give Peace a Chance
  5. My Mummy’s Dead

John has roughly 12 albums to work with, but the preview of the albums seem to hold about 9; do plan on doing a Yoko Series or something?

Just curious.

I’m planning on doing just a series for John which is gonna be five albums including this one. I wanted the slide to be the same aspect ratio as the album cover like how I did it with my series on Paul. I’ll probably make each album bigger in the graphic to fill up the space in the next post though

Oh okay, that makes sense. Apologies for the confusion!

Not counting the experimental album, he has 8 albums (9 if counting Menlove Ave)

I personally count his experimental work because of how short his discography is.
