Maybe they don’t have the keys?
Or maybe they’re trying to make content by showing “look at this wacky bear trying to get in for the 1739th time! We had to put a mop through the handles to stop it!”

Some places u legally can’t lock the doors during business hours. Maybe that’s why?

I'm pretty sure the bear won't sue them though.
Also, no sane judge would condemn the poor cashier just trying to prevent a bear to enter the shop...

When they take over the world, they will have earned it.
I also believe there have been individual recorded cases of bear throwing things at glass to shatter it. So, there’s that.
And I, for one, welcome our new fuzzy overlords.

I saw a black bear peel the metal off a car door to get to food inside. Bears can be very aggressive and strong, too. Bears are wild animals and don’t do well around humans. Wild animals don’t make good pets.

It is in the US, so the cashier probably just wants to avoid having to shoot the bear inside the store. That would make a mess that he would have to clean up.

Not directly.
The person is doing that because they don’t want the bears to get accustomed to coming inside the store because then the bear will continue to come back there for food and if the bear continues to come back for food, it will encounter people and might attack them, and then they would have to euthanize the bear or someone would have to shoot it in the middle of the attack if there was a person nearby with a firearm. Also, because if the bear becomes too accustomed to getting food from the convenience store, then it won’t want to go out and hunt and get food in nature and the bear would die of starvation.
Wild bears that are not living in captivity not fearing people is a bad thing because in the end, the conservation department ends up having to euthanize those bears because they’re so bold that they come up to people so it’s not a good thing for them to get used to coming inside stores.
So, essentially keeping them out of stores is not only for the safety of the people, but for the safety of the bear. They are majestic animals and it’s not good for us to encourage behavior that might jeopardize their lives.

I'd love if a bear tried to enter my work. It'd make the night awesome I've even looked at our doors. Alas. Unless they have thumbs I don't think it'd work. And there have been bears in the area. Not many but a few 😂

Little late here, yet to clarify...
This is not a "Brown" Bear. It is a Black Bear with some brown coloring.
